Launched (Creative Scrappers sketch #268)

Spring came early this year, and we had some lovely warm days in April. I live at the seaside, so it's often windy her, but we even had a week without wind and with sun.

DS11 decided it was time to get his boat back on water, but this particular afternoon I didn't have time to help him. But he had four strong buddies with him and they managed to pull the boat trailer by hand down to the sea front and launch the boat. Actually a car wouldn't have helped this early afternoon: we have a concrete ramp we use for launching boats, but this day the tide was so low, that a car would have had  to back all the way out on the sand bottom - and it would probably be stuck.

Here are DS11 and his brother on his way home:

Background paper: Webster's  Pages. Other papers: SEI, Sassafras Lass, LYB, Crate papers. Banner: Teresa Collins. Badges: The Paper Bakery. Wood pieces & epoxy stars: Freckled Fawn. Alpha: AC. Anchor: unknown

Details:

I found inspiration to this layout from Creative Scrappers sketch #268:

The six circles draw my attention, but I deciden to put my photo to the right of them. So I have streched the sketch to fit my needs, but I'm still happy with the result.

Have you had an early spring, too? or a nice fall if you are on the opposite part of the globe?

OUAS October challenge has gone live!

Hey everyone!

Another month, another challenge at Once Upon A Sketch (OUAS)

I hope you all get a chance to play along this month. There are SOME AMAZING prizes up for grabs and don't forget about the OUAS Facebook contest!!! When you play along this month please post your layout at the OUAS Facebook Page HERE, toowhere a RANDOM winner will be chosen to win this prize from our monthly Facebook sponsor 13arts.

Here is the October Sketch:

And this is the Ocober journaling theme:

 "The Journey..."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

My example for you

Papers/stickers: WRMK. Paper Clip, enamel dots & fabric brad: Freckled Fawn.
Other brads Teresa Collins. Stamps: Jillibean Soup

I chose to go with a bold color sheme this time, to match the colors in my photo:
The photo was taken during or road trip this summer, and the journaling says:
"This is the Message you don't want your GPS to display, particulary not when the option is 140 km (100 miles) longer, But luckily, the GPS was wrong, and the short cut was open".

Details:

Do you trust your GPS - always?

Now head over to the OUAS blog to play along and to see the rest of the DT's fabolous examples!

Road Trip 2013 - CSI Case File #83

My dad lives on the other side of the country, a ten hour drive from our house, so we don't see him too often. We decided to pay him a visit this summer, but also to take advantage of beeing on the road and visit a few more Places on the way.

My kids are good in the car, but find long travels boring, so they stayed up long the night before we took off, so they could sleep in the car and make the trip more easy. The photo in the layout below is taken about 1/2 hour after we left the house *lol*

Striped vellum, Wood veeners & vellum accents: Studio Calico. Brads, washi tape & note stickers: Teresa Collins.
Alpha & stickers: Simple Stories. Flair: aflairforbuttons. Envelope, ticket & photo accent: unknown

The journaling says: This year we took no trip abroad - instead we went to Bergen. for a change we decided to stop over in Vraadal.

This layout is my take on this week's Case File at CSI, #83. This month's theme is travelling and the perfect inspiration to scrap the photos from our road trip.

How I solved the case:

*All five colors used (Manilla Cream on the background cardstock)
*Evidence: Stripes, labels, travel accents, circles
*Testimony: document a trip

If you need a kick start on scrapping your travel photos (or any other photos), please head over to the CSI blog to see what the rest of the DT did, and to play along!

London calling! (CSI #78)

Hello!

This Easter I took my family to visit and explore London, UK. And of course I had to take a photo of them in the so London'ish red phone boxes.

Journaling:" And when you are in London, you do have to have a photo of you in one of the red phone boxes - the true documention of you really having been there"

When I grew up we had phone boxes, too. Not as pretty as the Lonon ones, but still. I think this was the first time my kids even saw a phone box (please have in mind, I live on the country side)... I feel like a dinosaur...

Some close up photos:

Patterned paper: MME (green stripes), unknown (bakground).Cut outs/stickers:
Teresa Collins. Large badge: Scrapbuttons,. Flair: Ormolou. Alpha: Basic Grey.
 Plane: Studio Calico. Brad: MME

This layout is made with inspiration from CSI file case #78. As this blog post is a scheduled one, I'm hiking in the beautiful Norwegian Mountains when the challenge goes live. I don't have the direct link to the Challenge, but you find it here.

How I solved the case:
-All colors used
-Evidence: travel accents, stickers, stitching
Testimony: Document a trip

Tell me, are there things you see that makes YOU feel like a dinosaur?

Memory Maze May work + blog hop winner

Hello.

A week ago it was my turn to share ideas on how to use useboards on the Memory Maze blog. This time I focused on how to you small items/ATC sized chipboards on different creations. If you want to read the entire article, please visit my post at the Memory Maze blog, but here is the short version:

I started by making these three 2,5"x3,5" pieces.

The first one is used on an ATC (You find all the product information on the Memory Maze blog post):

Chipboard: Memory Maze. Stamps: Kaizer Kraft, Teresa Collins Stamp Maker
Alpha: Adornit: Paint: Parma. Ink: Ranger. Pen: Zig

The second is used on a card:

Chipboard: Memory Maze. Patterned Paper: AC. Alpha: Crate Paper
Pearls: Inkido

The third one is used on a layout (There is a lot of white-tailed deers where I live. As my gardens is fenced, just a low fence so my dogs can run free in it, they usually don't visit us. Spring this year must have been tought on the deers with lots of ice on the ground, making it hard to find anything eat, becuase they decided to pay my garden a visit - and they ate the pancies I had on a table next to the kitchen window).

Chipboard: Memory Maze. Patterned Paper: Harmonie. Bling: Petaloo.  Ribbon: AC. Cheesecloth: unknown

...................................

Memory Maze blog hop winner

Thanks to everyone who played along with our first ever blog hop for Memory Maze. And thank you also for all the lovely comments and for joining my blog. Without further ado the randomly chosen winner of my blog hop is................Tone-Lill Angelsgård. Congratulations Tone-Lill - please email me your address (see the right hand bar) so that I can ship you your prize ~ a card kit.

The London Eye (A new The Studio Challenge is up!)

Hi!

Are you as much as a sketch fan as I am? In that case, check out this great sketch from The Studio Challenges, created by Valerie.

I used this sketch to make this page about the London Eye:

Petterned paper, washi & banners: Teresa Collins. Chipboard: Memory Maze. Flairs: The Paper Bakery
Alphas: Webster Pages (thin), Crate Paper (fat)

Closeup photos focusing on chipboard from the May sponsor Mamory Maze:

Chipboard painted with acrylic paint.

Inked chipboard words. Painted hipboard cogs

I took my family to London during the Easter break, and it was a wonderful trip, even if it was cold and without any signs of spring. I just love London, and have visited the city several times, but this is the first time with kids. And thay had a blast, too - there is so much to see and do in London. We visited the usual tourist traps as Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, the aquarium and Hamleys, but we did a lot of walking, too, and got to see a lot of known places: Big Ben, Trafalguar Squares, parks, Covent Garden etc etc. We only had four days, so we didn't reach every place worth seeing, but we're surely coming back. And beware of more London layouts in the future :-)

What do you say - do you want to play with us at The Studio Challenges, and maybe find out how to win a fabolous prize from the chipboard manufactorer Memory Maze? You have the entire month of May to do so. Welcome!

Money Transaction - Kid Style (CSI File #66)

My kids have a wish list longer than any grocery shopping list I have ever had and it changes every day. Sounds familiar? The www is a great source for kids to find even more gadgets they "need", and they truly wish they had free access to my credit card. Sounds familiar, too?

The kids were browsing web shops the other night, nagging about buying this and that. I repetedly told them that as long as they didn't have any money, it was out of the question. Then my DS13 suddenly said: "Hey, look mum, I have the solution". He had grabbed my wallet and stuck a USB cable to it...

Patterned papers, washi, stickers, tickets etc: Teresa Collins. Alphas: SEI (red), unknown (black)
Pins: Maya Road. Bottlecap: Estrella (a Spanish beer brand). Buttons & flair: unknown

Some details/close ups
Doodling - and buttons

The purpose of the flair (exept for beeing decorative)? I love to have my camera
in reach so I can capture these moments

The bottlecap is from a beer bottle - I would buy this beer just to get my hands on the bottle caps!

This layout came alive when I saw challenge #66 at CSI.

This is how I "solved the case":

Colors: All five used (it might be hard to see, but some of the papers have both light and dark grey, like the damask patterned paper)
Evidence: Buttons, flair, white background, draw/doodle
Testimony: something funny (I found DS' idea funny)

Do your kids come up with this kind of "clever" ideas?
