Food from my garden - CSI file #75

Summer doesn't seem to take off here in my part of Norway - we have plenty of sun, but the air is still quite cold - and I'm dying to get more vegatables out from my greenhouse and out in the veggie garden.
Do you have a greenhouse or veggie garden?

If you have known me for a while you know I am a garden junkie. I love everythings that grows or blooms and I have a soft spot for anything edible there: fruit, berries, herbs and vegatables. The first I pick is rhubarb and hives - and even my kids ask for rhubarb soup as soon as it's getting green here.

Patterned papers: Glitz designs, Studio Calico, Cosmo Cricket. Butterflies: Studio Calico. Acrylic buttons: Ephiphany Crafts. Twine: Pink Paisley. Cutlery, flower: unknown.

Journaling: I admit it: any meal taste better when made with ingrediences from my own garden

Isn't this cutlery the cutest?

This layout is made with inspiration from CSI Case File #75:

How I solved the case:
  • Colors: all five used
  • Evidence: Flowers, wood, banner title
  • Testimony: from "Pop the question": What is your favourite meal to prepare?
Thank you for stopping by - you know your visit means a lot to me :-)

Welcome to my Memory Maze world

I have a big crush on chipboards, so you can tell I was tickled pink when I was picked to the first DT ever at the Australian chipboard manufactorer Memory Maze

Today I have my first DT post at the Memory Maze blog. I have chosen to show a number of ways to use card sized chipboard phrases on both numbers and cards.

Here is one of the creations:

Patterned Papers: Studio Calicio. Chipboard: Memory Maze. Small alpha: Cosmo Cricket
Large Alpha: Sassafras Lass. Button, twine & raindrops: unknown

I found this photos of DS13 when I was looking for a printer manual the other day, and I couldn't resist scrapping them.

Photo taken in 2000?

The Chipboard phrase is painted with acrylic paint

You will find the other two creations in the Memory Maze blog post as well as details about chipboard ID numbers etc. I'll display the rest of my creations on my blog next week but you are welcome to see them all at the Memory Maze blog today:-)

Do you like working with chipboard?

Chasing Butterflies (CSI challenge #61)

Are you tired of seeing photos of my cute kitten Mercedes? I hope not, but she's in a lot of my layouts these days. And there are two reasons:
  1. She does lot of fun, silly stuff - she is still 100% kitten!
  2. The rest of the family do boring stuff and we don't take photos of it. That said, we have a trip to the snowy mountains ahead, as well as one to London in the near future, so I count of some fresh photos to scrap then.
One of the silly things Mercedes is up to, is to chase the butterflies on the curtains in my scrap place. I think she finally have understood that they are not coming down, because I haven't seen her in action this weekend. Here she is:

Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket (yellow), Studio Calicio (others). Journaling sprouts: Jillibean Soup.
Chipboard butterflies: Imaginarium Designs. Alpha: AC/Amy Tangerine. Buttons: Unknown

The chipboard butterflies are painted with gesso and then acrylic paint.

This layout was made for challenge #62 at CSI:

Colors used: all five
Evidence: butterflies, buttons
Testimony: add buttons to journaling spot

Tell me, what do you take photos of these days?

Confronting Life!

I admit it.
When we startet 2013 I wasn't very optimistic about the coming year.
In 2012 Life face punched us pretty hard on several occations, and I knew 2013 will be rough, too. There will be losses of loved ones, there will be people around us who expects us to take action when their own lives get complicated, there will be challenges work wise, family wice, with schools etc etc.

I'm normally a person who handles emotional stress good, and I felt bad by being so pessimistic. I decided to work on this and to look for the positive in life and to let my word for 2013 be Thankful. I decided to keep it simple: to take a timeout every Sunday and write down what I am most thankful for that spesific week. There might be several things, but I'm writing down the one thing I'm most thankful for. I'll probably make a kind of Project Life album for it later, but so far the prosess has been the most important to me. And it seems to work.

Anyway: I was looking for a quote or saying which could express my pessimistic feeling, when I stumbled upon this one - and it was a great awakening for me:

That quote was just what I needed to roll up my sleeves and get on with My Life, not everybody else's. 2013 will be a rough year, I know it, but let it come - we can handle it! I dare to say, one of the best days in my life was a Friday night a few weeks ago, where I had the weekly Friday Night Home Date with the husband, we took a look back and said, quite surprised and very reliefed: "2012 wasn't that bad, after all. OK, sad things happened, but we handled it, and survived it, and we are ready for the coming challenges"

Papers: Cosmo Cricket. Bling: Prima. Wood viner stars: Studio Calicio.
Button, ribbon, twine: Unknown

The photo of me in this layout is a pretty good picture of what I wanted to do when the new year started but it facts the bonnet looks better on me when you see my pretty face :-)

Do you ever have those pesimistic moments?
