Analog activities

I admit it - I have been a slacker for the last weeks when it comes to keeping it up in social medias and beeing creativ. I haven't scrapped in three weeks and my blog is neglected - but my veggie garden looks wonderful. I blaim it all on having vacation, and the fact that it has been a wonderful weather - my priority has been to enjoy the nice temperatures, spend time With my Family and to not do the everyday life stuff. We have been on a short road trip in our country, gone fishing, stayed up late (and slept in, too), hardly been at the beach - just taken the days as they came.

As I said, my blog has been neglected for a few weeks, so I have a little catching up to do with work I did before the summer holidays. Let's start with a layout made for one of The Studio Challenges July Challenges, a sketch challenge:

All material exept puzzle pieces (scraps): The Paper Bakery June Kit

The company I work for has a mountain cabin, located at a ski resort, and we may rent it at a very good price. My family has stayed there a few times, and we really do appreciate the place. As there is no internet at the cabin, unless you want to go via the tele company, and just a few TV channels, we get the chance to do other activities , like puzzling.
Journaling: "When the internet access is limited, and you have just a few TV-channels, it's a good idea to do some old fashioned activities. M at Beitostoelen March 2013"

Please tell me, do you slack when you are off, too, or is it just me?

...and the living is easy...

If my pets knew ONE song, it would be Summertime - and especially the phrase "...and the living is easy..." *lol*

Bacgound paper: Unknown. Other papers: SEI (pimk), Basic Grey (Orange + striped). Trim & flowers: Prima. Pearls: Kaiserkraft. Epoxy buttons: Epiphany Craft. Other buttons: unknown. Stamp: Scrapbooks&Cards. Alphas: AC & BG

Journaling says "It can't hard to be a pet in this house".

Hand made "flower"

Mixing alphas works great

This layout is my example for this week's Challenge at CSI. Here it is (click on image to enlargen)

I would never ever dared to pick that color combo myself, but it works as a charm! Please head over to the CSI site to see the rest of the inspiring layouts from the DT!

Why don't you give it a try yourself?

Crocheting with twine

Have you ever tried it?

The first challenge at The Studio Challenges in July is all about going creative with twine. The DT has come up with lovely ideas, so please visit the blog for inspiration and to play along.

I learned to crochet as a little girl, and crocheting is like swimming or biking: skills you have learnt well you don't forget. This is what the journaling on my layout says, too.

Patterned papers & cut outs: Lemon Owl. Twine: Pink Paisley

Teenagers!

Do you have them? I do!

Chipboard title: Memory Maze. Papers: Basic Grey (Background), Studio Calico (others). Die Cuts: Crate Papers. Flair: The Paper Bakery. Acrylic button: Epiphany Crafts

In my DT post at the Memory Maze blog in June, I talk about where to find inspiration to tell the real stories, and one place is in words/titles. Often the title is thought of late in the creative process while scrapping, but the title can be the perfect starting point, too. In this blog post I will show you  my third example.

Inked in green and then drawn with a Brown pen

The title is the starting point for this layout. The journaling describes what teenagers are like, and the  photos are just illustrations to emphasize the theme.  I think this layout sums up my teenage son’s year better than if I made one layout showing him and his buddy on the trampoline and one with him gaming, with matching titles.

While creating - when in the process do you come up with your title?

But the challenge blogs don't take the summer off...

I have finally started on my summer vacation, but the challenge blogs certainly don't take the summer off.

The Studio Challenges have a new, fun challenge which is all about going creative with twine: I have a sneak peak for you today, and you will get the entire reveallater this week, or you can pop over to The Studio Challenges blog to see it right now.

CSI is up with another wonderful color combo to play with this week, and some mojo kicking ideas on how to solve this case:

This Case File was Perfect for scrapping about  the national day here in Norway, May 17th, a day we celebrate indeed.

Patterned Papers: MME (navy blue), Studio Calico (green, red), Little yellow Bicycle (light blue). Rubons: October After noon. Alpha: AC. Ribbon, pom pom trim, brads: Unknown

How I solved the case:
-all five colors used.
-Evidence: Pink wheeh, pom pom trim, polka dots, ribbon, rubons
-Testimony: Story: patriotic holiday

Grow - OUAS July Challenge

Hi!

Do you have a a veggie garden?
I do, and I just love to see the development there during the summer season. Unfortenately, summer so far this year has been pretty cold and wet so the plants haven't grown as I hoped for. But summer isn't over yet, and as I am a true optimist, I haven't given up. But I admit I'm seriously considering buying a greenhouse to increase the chances of eating DYI vegetables.

The July journaling theme at OUAS is Grow, and you are of course free to interpret it as you wish. I chose to write about my veggie garden to be :-)

Patterned papers & cut outs: Lemon Owl. Clay carrots: MyLittleBitOfWhimsey. Alpha: Sassafras Lass

Did you notice how I made the signs for the plants? I have written on simple can lids, just like the one I have tucked behind the butterfly. Very cheap - very effective, and when fall comes, I just toss them in the bin for recycling metal...

Journaling: The one who give up is a loser: we try out again hoping summer will be warm enough to give us home grown vegetables like squash and chilli.
