Rock Hard!

Feel free to interpret the title as you want to:
  • Is it me telling my mum to (still) rock hard?
  • Is it her beeing rock hard (no, she's really a sweetie, but she's quite tough, too)?
  • Or is it just the feeling you get when you hug a cairn?
Your choice :-)

Papers & cut outs: Pink Fresh. Alpha: American Crafts. Sequin covered hearts & enamel hearts: Freckled Fawn. Brads: MME

Details:

Since I don't do any DT work atm, just scrap for my own amusement and to preserve memories, I suck inspiration wherever I find it. The idea for this spesific design came from a lifting challenge at Paper Issues (where I also bought the papers):

I have a hard time using large heart shapes, I replaced the large hearts in the layout with pieces of paper. I still you still can see the main design in my lift. Agree?

Good Times (Stuck?! April 1th Sketch)

For my birthday last year, husband and kids gave me a riding weekend  up in the Norwegian mountains.

Summer can be chilly in the mountains, but it still was a wonderful weekend - good, sturdy horses and a beautiful landscape. I was teamed up with the horse Hogda Viljar - a good choice made by the instructors - not too hot a horse, but not completely dead either :-)

Papers & stickers: Doodlebug Designs. Words: American Crafts. Wood weener: Freckled Fawn. Brads: unknown
Even if the mpintains hadn't dress in fall colors yet, I found the Doodlebug Designs Friendly Forest collection perfect:

Saddlebag - for food and extra clothes

The design is taken from the April 1th Sketch at Stuck?! Sketches, a great sketch to work with.

I hope I can do i similar tour this summer, too, but might find one with a little more speed and action!

Sparkle

I have issues with a few joint muscles, but acupuncture helps!
I don't feel very much like sparkling when I lay on the bench with needles on my hip, but the needles surely are my friends!

Papers, washi & cut outs; Pebbles. Word (Friends): American Crafts/Amy Tangerine. Bling: unknown. Glitter enamel dots: Freckled Fawn. Ribbon: Unknown

This layout was made at the Paper Issues Spring Crop, the "Bling Me Up, Scotty" challenge: Bling it up! Create a layout with lots of bling bling. Glitter, diamonds, shine. It's all good here.

The Pebbles Wonderland collection was perfect for this challenge with all the glitter covered cutouts!

Let it snow

We finally have "real" winter and snow here in my part of Norway. But brrr!, it has been cold the last couple of weeks: between -18C and -10C (0-10F). But I don't complain: I prefer the clean & cold snow over grey & dirty!

Snow means shoveling. As our roof is steep and slick, the snow on it usually comes down from it all at once - which means more shoveling. And of course the snow lands just outside the front door: that's what the journaling in this layout is about :-)

Cardstock & vellum: ClubScrap. Paint/modelling paste: Panduro. Mask: ClearSnaps: Alphas: American Crafts. Snowflake brads: Freckled Fawn. Dies: Life Style Crafts. Doilie: unknown

The January Take 5 Tuesday Challenge at Paper Issues, inpired me to make this layout. Here’s how it works: each month there will be a list of items to use as inspiration and starting point for your project. From that list, you pick 5 items to use on your project. From the January liste I picked color green, snowflake, die cut, paint, alpha sticker, title, cardstock and hand written journaling.

New goggles, much needed (CSI file #159)

This is my last layout as guest designer ("Special Investigator") at CSI in March, and here is the case to crack:

If you know me, you may have noticed I hardly ever use ink or paint or anything wet or messy, just because I don't have the patience for it. But this time I just kept adding like I was payed for it, and I loved how it turned out :-)

Patterned papers: unknown. Grid stamp: Kaiserkraft. Stensils: Thecraftersworkshop (grid), The Paper Bakery (hearts/circles). Rubons: Hambleys. Wood accents: Freckled Fawn. Epoxy heart; Heidi Swapp. Dymo: Dymo. Jewels & brad: unknown

How I solved the case:
*all colors used
*Evidence: Doodling, jewles, feathers, mixed media, grid pattern, rubons, love accents (the hearts)
*Testimony: Document things you love about you

Journaling says: " I love how I still challenge myself and go out of my comfort zone: I still ski and I have picked up equisterian again"

Tag card (Card week day 3)

I spent the weekend making cards :-) I need some for myself, and my mum wants some, too, so I decided to just dive in and use up remains from kits and old stuff! I browsed my favourite challenge sites to kick start my mojo, and am going to share these inspirational places - and my creations - with you every day for an entire week! Today is day 3!

Today my card contains a tag, and the inspiration is taken from this challenge at Tag you're it

The first I noticed on this image were the off set flowers on the tag, so I decided to go from there:

All you need is a few stickers, washi and a ribbon and a colorful piece of paper to make a card (and as the challenge is all about clean and simple, I kept it clean and simple :-)!

Patterned papers & stickers: Pebbles. Washi: Freckled fawn. Ribbon & pearls: unknown

Thank you for stopping by, and please come back tomorrow for another card :-)

Cool - the portrait of a 15YO

When we were on cruise last fall, we had the opportunity to get a professional photo shoot session.  This portait is of my 15 year old:

Papers: Sassafras Lass (Stripes), Lily Bee (blue flowers), SEI (grey), Lemon Owl (sand). Corrugated word: Jillibean Soup. Wood veeners: Freckled Fawn. Fabric Tag: Junkitz. Buttons & ribbon: unknown.
Overall design: The Nifty Pixels Sketch 38.2

I find bows perfect even for masculin layouts

I could not resist this (old) fabric tag when I found it in my LSS last summer

I have had this photo of DS15 laying on my desk for a while, not sure which color combo to go with it. When I saw the february color challenge at ARTastic Challenge blog, I knew it would be perfect for this photo.

Please return on Wednesday to find out how I used a completely different color scheme, for the portrait of DS 12. a photo with pretty much the same colors.

Philosopher Kitty

I haven't played along at CSI for a while, but this cool File Case caught my attention:

And her is my take on it:

Materials: all from my stash. Some AC, some Chic Tags, some Freckled Fawn, Studio Calico cats, Bo Bunny etc etc

Journaling says: "Ponky has turned into a real food wreck over the years. She seems to only have one interest/worry ..."

Details:

How I solved the case:
* Colors: all used (the cream is hard to see, but it's in the middle of the frames)
*Sketch: Used. it's flipped, twisted and stretched, but you should recognize the main elements :-)
*Evicence: Frames, pleeting, cats
*Testimony: Handwritten journaling. The title work is very much inspired by the Grumpy Cta Meme, too.

Don't you love this case? Head over to the CSI blog to play along - you have until January 31th to solve the case :-)

The Studio Challenges January 18th challenge: Clear up!

Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is a simple challenge:

As its the new year we want you to do a bit of clearing up! Whats sat on your desk? Are there photos, papers or bits and pieces that have been sat there for ages waiting to be scrapped but you never seem to get around to using them? Now is your chance to use them and clear your desk!

Here is my take on the challenge:

Background paper: AC/Amy Tangerine. Others: October Afternoon (blue), Echo Park (grey), MME (brown). Cardstock: Bazill, ClubScrap. Clear frame: Freckled Fawn. Cut files (bricks & alpha): Silhouette Studio. Long Brads: AC

I have had this photo of my oldest son (15) on my desk since July (!). It's taken on a boat trip/mini cruise, when he and his brother fought & were bored almost all the time (the is a story about WHY, but I'll leave that for another time). They finally desiced they could buy themselves a set of lego each to kill time and keep peace - luckily you're never too old for lego :-)

Details:

The "lego bricks"are my own designs, cut with the Silhouette Cameo, but you could easily make them by using an ordinary paper trimmer and a hole punch.

Are you ready for some clearing up?
Grab your papers and photos and head over to The Studio Challenges blog for more inspiration and to play along!

Childhood memories (The Studio Challenges December 7th Challenge)

As a kid, my mum, and later I, put our photos in albums and wrote some notes/the story behind the photos along with the photos. This is why I know this photo of my brother, my dad and I, was taken in 1976 on a canoe trip close to the Swedish border. The snap shoot photos are often of poor quality, but still good enough to tell about the 1976 camping fashion :-). On short line in the journaling tells that we still have the canoe - and use it!

CS: ClubScrap. Patterned papers: Harmonie, Fancy Pants Design. Wood items: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & cutouts: unknown

Here is this week's challenge at The Studio Challenges:
The Challenge today is: Childhood Memories, now is the time to go digging and find a lovely childhood photo with a story behind it. You could even recreate the photo, then and now!

This would be the perfect challenge for scrapping the old Christmas photo of you - or any other old photo!

Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's childhood memories and to play along. You have until January 4th to link up your creation!

Daily routines - here are some of mine!

Hey, everyone!  What does your normal day look like?  Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is all about scrapping your daily routine.  Your daily routine may not seem exciting or scrap-worthy, but we have a feeling that you'll appreciate the fact that you scrapped the "little moments" in a few years...

My morning routine: get out of bed, put the kettle on, take the dog out while I walk to pick up the news paper. News on digital medias is not the same as a real piece of paper!

Background paper: SEI. Other patterned papers: Lemon Owl. "Love This" card: Jillibean Soup. Metal clips: Freckled Fawn
Felt/fabric shapes: Charms Creations. Shaped cuts: unknown. Pearls: Scrappers Choice
 Details:

Please head over to The Studio Challenges Blog to see the rest of the DT reveal and to play along.  Please link up your entries by 7th December.

We now have a Facebook group for fans of The Studio to chat in, please come by and join in with the chat, we would love to see you there.
