Closet - teenager style

Sometimes my 15 year old son is a mess - especially when it comes to clothes. He obviously think the railing in the hallway is the perfect place to hang his clothes - hence the tiltle on this post and layout :-)

Papers, vellum pieces and printed chipboard: Pink Paislee. Alphas: American Craft. Cloth chipboard: Maya Road. Byttons: unknown

When I saw the sketch below on My Creative Sketches, I immidiately thought of cloth lines. I had the photo of DS15's clothes laying on my desk, so this layout was quick to make.

Here are some details from the layout:

Thank you for taking your time to stop by :-)

Every day is a fashion show...

This is my 15 year old son:

Printed black cardstock: ClubScrap. Orange paper: Karen Foster. Other pattern paper: Lemon Owl.
Chipboard: Maya Road. Epoxy stickers: Freckled Fawn. Alphas: Basic Grey (small), AC (others).
Journaling spot: Kaiser Craft. Tab: Simple Stories

He is a fashionist and plans his outfits very carefully. But then his dad cought him dressed like this on their annual "Dads-and-kids-camping-on-a-nearby-island" trip: pyjamas trousers, crocks - and his mother's rain jacket. Scrap worthy!

I found the inpiration for this layout in the Scrap Around The World's August mood board:

The theme, Fashion, was perfect for my photo, and I let the long title be one of the main elements in my design.

Here are some close ups of details:

Hand cut "arrows" and cloth themed chipboard inked in black.

Thank you for taking your time to stop by! Tell me, do you have a fashionist at home, too?

Feathers! (The Studio Challenges Pinterest Challenge)

Wow, there is so many ways to get inspired by the October Pinterest Challenge at The Studio Challenges (TSC): the colors, the deco, the mask themselves etc etc. What is the first thing that comes to Your mind when you see this?

My first though was "feathers"! We have two budgies at home, and you have no idea how much feathers they leave!

In fact, I often use real feathers from the birds if I make a layout about them, but this time I din't have any on hand, so I used a large one from Bella Blvd.

Backround pp: Glitz Dsigns. Other pps: MME. Jourmaling Cards, bird trim & fabric bird: Websters Pages.
Chipboard: Maya Road. Wood frame: Kaiser Kraft. Flair: The Paper Bakery. Washi & other trim: unknown

Bird trim, fabric bird, journaling cards with a bird on, bird chipboards, wings chipboard - birds are all over in the scrapping industry, so it wasn't hard to find the right embellies for this layout.

What did come to your mind first when you saw the Pinterest image? Please head over to the TSC blog to see how the other DTers were inspired, and Our followers, too!

Christmas Cards part 3

Hi!

Today I have two Christmas cards in a more traditional style for you.

But let's start with my source for inspiration: this lovely sketch found at Cardabilities:

Card #1:

Patterned papers: Panduro. Pins: Maya Road. Pearls: unknown

Card #2

All papers: Kaiser Craft

Pre cut  pieces stacked to add some dimension. A little Sticles around the edge and on the ornaments makes it sparkle.

Thank you for stopping by - I'll be back with more Christmas cards in about two weeks, in the mean time I'll feature some  layouts and all purpose cards :-)

The Studio Challenges June Challenge #1: Stitching!

I admit it  - I don't pull out my sewing machine or hand stitch on my layouts too often. But I love the effect stitching gives so I had decided to have my machine up on permanent bases, to see if it makes me use it more often.

The first challenge at The Studio Challenges in June is all about stitching: use stitching on your layout, hand stitching or by machine. Here is my example for you:

Alpha & background paper: Basic Grey. Patterned Paper: AC Embossed kraft paper: Club Stamp. Chipboards: Maya Road. Brad: MME. Cut outs: Crate Paper. Glassine bag & buttons: Unknown

A few detail shots:

Hidden journaling in glassine bags says: It's a matter of learning the kids that stuff can be fixed - you don't always have to buy new when broken.

Do you stitck on your projects?

Do you want to come and play with us at The Studio Challenges?

To Chicken Coops!

My oldest son in front - the expression in his face clearly tells what he thinks about having a chicken coop in the garden (his brother in the background, suggesting this play house would be perfect as a chicken Coop).

Background paper: SEI. Other patterned papers: MME. Alpha: Basic Grey. Paper clip: AC
Chipboard: Maya Road. Pom pom trim: unknown

Journaling says: "S and Mum cannot understand why M, and dad too, is so against having hens. If you mention "Chicken" to M you get a weird face or weird words in return, or he goes for a deal, like "You can have hens if I get a net for my trampoline".

This layout is my take on this weeks CSI Challenge:

 Don't you love it?

All five colours used.
Evidence: bird, pom pom trim
Testimony: The 1/3/06 prompt ("Why?")in the prompt link

Money Transaction - Kid Style (CSI File #66)

My kids have a wish list longer than any grocery shopping list I have ever had and it changes every day. Sounds familiar? The www is a great source for kids to find even more gadgets they "need", and they truly wish they had free access to my credit card. Sounds familiar, too?

The kids were browsing web shops the other night, nagging about buying this and that. I repetedly told them that as long as they didn't have any money, it was out of the question. Then my DS13 suddenly said: "Hey, look mum, I have the solution". He had grabbed my wallet and stuck a USB cable to it...

Patterned papers, washi, stickers, tickets etc: Teresa Collins. Alphas: SEI (red), unknown (black)
Pins: Maya Road. Bottlecap: Estrella (a Spanish beer brand). Buttons & flair: unknown

Some details/close ups
Doodling - and buttons

The purpose of the flair (exept for beeing decorative)? I love to have my camera
in reach so I can capture these moments

The bottlecap is from a beer bottle - I would buy this beer just to get my hands on the bottle caps!

This layout came alive when I saw challenge #66 at CSI.

This is how I "solved the case":

Colors: All five used (it might be hard to see, but some of the papers have both light and dark grey, like the damask patterned paper)
Evidence: Buttons, flair, white background, draw/doodle
Testimony: something funny (I found DS' idea funny)

Do your kids come up with this kind of "clever" ideas?

Magic Mirror In My Hand...

...who has the prettiest feathers in the land?

Feather embellies: The real Kiwi feathers :-)

Answer: my budgie Kiwi :-)

Budgies molt (as cats and dogs shred) and there is an amazingly large number of feathers on such a tiny little bird - you notice when they land on the floor. Most of the feathers are small, down feathers, but there are larger ones too, like the flight feathers from the wings and tails. Those are multicolored on lots of budgies, like Kiwi's. And I collect them as I think they are so pretty.

Patterned papers: Basic Grey, CSI Coordinates. Chipboard: Maya Road (bird), Imaginarium Designs (the reest). Rubons: Basic Grey. Stamps: Kaiser Kraft (grid), unknown (script). Jewles: Scrappers Choice.

My other budgie, Fluffy, is a white winged/tailed bird. His large feathers are all white and make super cute embellies, too!

I got the inspiration to this layout when I saw CSI case # 64:

Colors: all five used. My dominant color is lime green, found in one of the the CSI coordinates patterned papers: the bird is covererd with it and the title tiles made from the same paper.

Evidence: Bird, stamps, rubons, pen work, jewels
Testimony: Verbs (the words on the white "tiles": Molt- toss - fall - grow- renew

Do you collect any "weird" items?

Spring? - ( New challenge is up at The Studio Challenges!)

Hello!

Thank you for stopping by (this poor, neglected blog)!

As in large parts of Europe, we have had a cold, late spring. While the farmers around had the carrots weeds in the gound this time last year, today the ground is frozen. Neither the winter jackets or boots aretucked away yet and I haven't even started trimming the bushes in the garden. But actually, it's quite normal for early April - it has been like this many years before. We just seem to forget if we have had one year with early spring...

Chipboard painted with acrylic paint.

But the kids doesn't care much. They have had the trampoline up all winter and jumped the entire season. They have shuffled of the snow, put on wool socks, and jumped away. It's rather interesting seeing them jump with winter jackets, bonnets and mittens :-)

So when is it really spring? Is it on a certain date? Is it at a certain middel temperature? Is it when you can jump in a t.shirt only or wear crocks? The photo on this layout made me ask myself these questions (this is my journaling, too).

Patterned papers: Basic Grey, Crate Papesr. Chipboard: Maya Road + other unknown. Alpha: AC

Once Upon A Sketch April Challenge

Hi. I hope you all have had a happy easter! Have you been fooled today, btw? Not me - so far *lol*

Today is the first day of the month, and that means a new challenge for you at Once Upon A Sketch (OUAS). Here is this month's theme and sketch for you:

Theme: Best day of your life

The best day of your life!!!!! Everyone has at least one or two! Tell us anything that you can relate this title to.

Ideas for journalling: child's birth, wedding day, anniversary, meeting someone special, buying a new home, changing jobs, a holiday, a special celebration.. there is no right or wrong. Its YOUR day!
Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Here is my take on the challenge:

My journaling is on the tag stuck under my photo and it says: The best days must be those where you can, after rough periods, can say: "Hey, it went OK - we survived - and we are ready to take more".
I honestly love those days.

Papers: Prima. Alphas: Basic Grey. Zipper: Maya Road. Small flowers: Petaloo. Large flowers & tulle: Unknown.

Please visit the OUAS blog to see the rest of the DT & guest's examples, to see the wonderful prizes from our sponsors, and to play along!

Hush, don't tell my hubby!

  • That I have spent to much on scrapping?
No, I've been good so far this year (remember, as I have a "Shopping Free 2013" I have only allowed myself to buy four collections)
  • That I have spent too much time scrapping?
No, I haven't. And as our living room is just besides my scrap space, he knows what I'm doing
  • That I have a lover?
No, I don't have one. And I don't think I can handle one either *lol*

So what is my secret?

Flower: Petaloo. Pebble: Prima. Butterfly: Maya Road (?)
Twine: The Twinery. Trim & washi: unknown

I have started some secret savings. If I do what I have planned, there should be enough money in the end of the year to go on a small vacation or something else fun.

Here is the deal: you start at Week 1 by saving a dollar (or an Euro, or any other amount depending on the currency where you live.) Week2 you save two dollars, week 3 three dollars etc etc. It should give you about $1500 by the end of the year if you manage to keep up. I have been good so far in 2013 :-)

I needed a box for my secret savings, and I had a container I wanted to use. You may have seen those often used for smoothies, juices etc, the ones with a hole at the top of the bubble shaped lid? I had one which had contained berries so it was easy to clean. But how on earth do you cover such a shape with paper? Then it stroke me: Washi tape!!! And how easy was that! I don't mind that the final surface has some wrinkles, I think it adds a nice structure in fact. I added a flower and an old butterfly I have had around for ages, a ribbon, some twine and a cute pebble, and voila!

I have no idea which manufactorers these washi come from. I have gotten some here,
bought some there and they have all come without packaging indicating origin.

I don't think neither kids or husband will ever look at the inside of this container, as they are used to me having decorated (uninteresting) stuff in my scrap place. And I have made sure it is placed on a shelf the curious kitten can't reach.

Do you ever do secret savings? For indulging yourself or sharing with the rest of the family?
