New sketch challenge at The Studio Challenges

Today we have this fun sketch by Valerie for you at The Studio Challenges:

My take on it:

Cardstock: Bazill. Patterned papers: MME. Cutouts/tags: Crate Paper. Hearts cut file: Paper Issues. Heart chipboard border: SA Crafters. Fabric ticket: Websters Pages. Alpha: Basic Grey. Stamps: Close To My Heart. Pearls: Kaiser Craft

I turned the sketch 90 degrees to fit my photo better and to give room for the big, long title.

The photo is featuring my DS12, licking the remains of strawberry coulis on his plate. Title says "Simen + strawberry coulis = true". If you don't know about coulis, check it here: it's just lovely with meat, such as veal!

Details:

Stitch stamps, even on the heart in upper left corner

Heart Cut file, chipboard border, fabric ticket, pearls

Come on over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's loevly take on this sketch and to play along!

Hello lovely (The Studio Challenges Pinterest challenge)

This week we have this challenge for you at The Studio Challenges:

29th March - Pinterest challenge, spring pin picked by Anna.
How does this pin inspire you?

The image shoutet Springtime at me - and we had some signs of spring spring here in Norway, as the crocuses, before it all was covered with 10 inches of snow again. Sigh.  You will find items taken from the image as flowers and the bike in my layout

Patterned papers & patetrned stickers: Pebbles. Black stickers: Kaiser Kraft. Ribbon: unknown
I often use 3D foam behind parts of the stickers, to add depth to the design.

Journaling says: Crocus: A sign of spring and the coming summer: Long days with lots of light and plenty of time to be outdoors

I think I'll use the easter break to pull out the bike from the shed, and make it ready for summer!

Come see how the rest of the DT was inspired by the Pinterest image and play along: at our blog

The Handyman - TSC March 1th challenge

Hi!

This blog has been quiet fro two weeks - but for reasons:
1) I took a one week break from every day life and spent them with my family in the snowy mountains here in Norway. So needed - so lovely!
2) Back home I got the cold from h*** - fever, running nose etc etc - all my energy was focused on staying in bed and getting better. I still have the largest cold sore ever to remind me - it looks like somebody hit me with a stick unde the nose - nice :-)

In between beeing away and sick, I created this example for The Studio Challenges latest challenge:

Use as many of these Items in your layout as you can....
                  Mist
                  Stamping
                  Sequins
                  Chipboard
                  Brads or Eyelets
                  Thread
                  vellum
                  yellow

Patterned papers: Lemon Owl. Cut File: Silhouette Studio. Alpha: American Crafts. Stamps, vellum & green brads: ClubScrapp. Sequins, fiber, screw eyelets: unknown. Ink: Archival. Mist: Ranger
I have used all the items except yellow - just because yellow was added after my layout was done.

Details:

Journaling says: "It's great to be a DIY when the house needs some improvements. But Cliff, why don't you wear pants while painting?"

The Studio Challenges January 18th challenge: Clear up!

Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is a simple challenge:

As its the new year we want you to do a bit of clearing up! Whats sat on your desk? Are there photos, papers or bits and pieces that have been sat there for ages waiting to be scrapped but you never seem to get around to using them? Now is your chance to use them and clear your desk!

Here is my take on the challenge:

Background paper: AC/Amy Tangerine. Others: October Afternoon (blue), Echo Park (grey), MME (brown). Cardstock: Bazill, ClubScrap. Clear frame: Freckled Fawn. Cut files (bricks & alpha): Silhouette Studio. Long Brads: AC

I have had this photo of my oldest son (15) on my desk since July (!). It's taken on a boat trip/mini cruise, when he and his brother fought & were bored almost all the time (the is a story about WHY, but I'll leave that for another time). They finally desiced they could buy themselves a set of lego each to kill time and keep peace - luckily you're never too old for lego :-)

Details:

The "lego bricks"are my own designs, cut with the Silhouette Cameo, but you could easily make them by using an ordinary paper trimmer and a hole punch.

Are you ready for some clearing up?
Grab your papers and photos and head over to The Studio Challenges blog for more inspiration and to play along!

Childhood memories (The Studio Challenges December 7th Challenge)

As a kid, my mum, and later I, put our photos in albums and wrote some notes/the story behind the photos along with the photos. This is why I know this photo of my brother, my dad and I, was taken in 1976 on a canoe trip close to the Swedish border. The snap shoot photos are often of poor quality, but still good enough to tell about the 1976 camping fashion :-). On short line in the journaling tells that we still have the canoe - and use it!

CS: ClubScrap. Patterned papers: Harmonie, Fancy Pants Design. Wood items: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & cutouts: unknown

Here is this week's challenge at The Studio Challenges:
The Challenge today is: Childhood Memories, now is the time to go digging and find a lovely childhood photo with a story behind it. You could even recreate the photo, then and now!

This would be the perfect challenge for scrapping the old Christmas photo of you - or any other old photo!

Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's childhood memories and to play along. You have until January 4th to link up your creation!

Daily routines - here are some of mine!

Hey, everyone!  What does your normal day look like?  Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is all about scrapping your daily routine.  Your daily routine may not seem exciting or scrap-worthy, but we have a feeling that you'll appreciate the fact that you scrapped the "little moments" in a few years...

My morning routine: get out of bed, put the kettle on, take the dog out while I walk to pick up the news paper. News on digital medias is not the same as a real piece of paper!

Background paper: SEI. Other patterned papers: Lemon Owl. "Love This" card: Jillibean Soup. Metal clips: Freckled Fawn
Felt/fabric shapes: Charms Creations. Shaped cuts: unknown. Pearls: Scrappers Choice
 Details:

Ashes to ashes (The Studio November Sketch)

At The Studio Challenges it is time for another lovely sketch that Valerie as created for us. This time she took inspiration from Tessa's August Mood board layout. What a great sketch to get your inspiration going!

My FIL passed away in July. He didn't want a grave with a tomstone, so we applied the authorities for permission to spread his ashes into the sea, Permission was obtained and in late september we spread his ashes. We live at the seaside so every time we look at the window we are reminded of him.

Patterned papers, stickers cutouts & alpha: Doodlebug Designs. Flowers: Bo Bunny. Buttons & brads: unknown
 Close ups:

Please come and join us at The Studio Challenges. You have until December 7th to upload your layouts :-)

Fish Spa (The Studio Challenges September Lift Challenge)

Good morning!  Our challenge today at The Studio Challenges is definitely a fun one.  We want you scraplift a member of our design team.  On our blog you can see how it turned out when all the design team ladies picked another designer to scraplift for this challenge.   Here is my inspiration layouts and my scraplifted version:

I love the design on Leslie's layout for the August 17th Mood Board Challenge:

I chose to keep two main elements: the large title, which I substituted with my journaling, and the photo framed by a large layer cluster, I kept pretty close with some of the embellies, too - the camera, the title on the left hand on the photo etc etc. My layout is featuring my DS11, having a fish spa in Crete this summer:
Background paper: Kaiser Craft. Other Patterned papers: MME, Tags; Chic Tags. Alpha: American Craft. Flair, washi & arrow: Freckled Fawn. Resin fish, camera, fabric "flowers & buttions: unknown.
Here are a few close ups for you:

Now please head over to the The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT member's lifts and to play along!

Every photo has a story to tell (The Studio Challenges)

Hi!

This month we have this fun tic tac toe challenge for you at The Studio Challenges:

I picked one of the diagonals: Hot pink, chipboard and three kinds of alphas:

Background paper: Studio Calico. Other papers: MME, Lemon Owl. Amy Tangerine. Overlay: Fancy Pants. Chipboard: Memory Maze, Imaginarium Designs. Fabric "badge" Charms Creations. Alphas: Fancy Pants, Basic Grey, Echo park

Every photo has a story to tell - but it might not be the obvious one. I bet you are sure the journaling is about our kitten riding with my son, but it's not *lol*. Title/journaling says: " Every picture has a story to tell - like that 2014 was the year M decided he no longer would wear regular t-shirts, shirts with collars only, and that Polo Ralph Lauren was the only desent brand". He has become such a snob - sigh.

Drtails

Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see how the rest of the DT solved the challenge, to play along and to see how you can win i prize from this month's sponsor:

Happy - The Studio Challenges Mood board challenge

The wonderful Tessa has created an awesome mood board for The Studio Challenges to work with:

The entire mood board inspired me to make the layout below: the theme, the colors and the details as the swim wear, sun deck chairs and the waves.

My youngest son just loves to swim - ocean or pool - it doesn't matter as long as he may swim.

Splash paper: Bo Bunny. Yellow paper: Studio Calico. Feelt stickers: Creative Scrappers. Chair border: SEI
Badge: unknown

Want to use a sun burst paper background but don't have one? DIY! It's so easy - all you need is two paers and a craft knife. I sketch up where I wanted the burst with a pencil and cut out the parts free hand. No ruler involved :-)

More detail photos:

Do you want to play with us at The Studio Challenges?
Please head over to the blog to see the rest of the DT's lovely interpretations of the mood board and to see how you can win a prize from our sponsor,

The Last Stroll (The Studio Challenges August 3rd Button challenge)

This is my FIL, who passed away last Wednesday night. He was very special to us as he has lived with us since 1995 - my kids has grown up with him too, not their parents only. The journaling says: "The last week grandpa was alive, he chose to stay at the hospital. There he would get the nursing, and the care, he needed. Cliff visited him every day, and the day before grandpa died, grandpa asked to be taken on a stroll - a wish Cliff gladly made come true".

Background paper: Webster's Pages. Flowers: Petaloo, Prima. Alpha: Jillibean Soup. Buttons: from my stash

This layout is made for The Studio Challenges' button challenge:
Today's challenge is all about Buttons! We want to see the creative ways you use buttons on your layouts!

I very often use buttons on my layouts: as the main part of my layouts are masculine, and masculine embilleshments can be hard to find, I find buttons very handy. I usually scatter them around to balance the design, like on the layout above.

Details:

I just love how many colors and structures buttons come in!

Please head over to The Studio Challenges' blog to see how the rest of the DT has used buttons and to play along.

This month the winner will receive a package of chippies from this month's sponsorA2Z Scraplets.

Ready, set, go! The Studio Challenge joining up with Stuck!? Sketches

Today we have a special challenge at The Studio Challenges. You may have noticed we've moved our challenge ahead by a few days - this is beacause we have joined up with Stuck?! Sketches!

We have a lovely summery colour palette for you and Stuck?! Sketches have kindly given us a great sketch to create with.

Here is my take on the challenge:

Last summer DS11 got his own boat, a small RIB. We live at the sea side and he has spent hours on his boat. But the RIB wasn't perfect for him - he wanted a boat with more room for friends and a boat more convenient for activities like fishing, so he sold the RIB this spring and got hands on a 10 foot dinghy. The dinghy looked as new, even if it was second hand. All boats, small or large, need polish before going in the water:

Patterned papers & stickers: Amy Tangerine. Resin cloud, rubber banner & epoxy arrow: Freckled Fawn. Alpha: AC. Button: Jillibean Soup. White banner: unknown

I stayed as close to the colour palette as possible, but flipped the sketch :-)

Details:

Now, please head over to both The Studio Challenges and Stuck?! Sketches to see the the DT's lovely examples, play along and to learn how you can win amazing prizes from this months sponsors:
