Gone Fishing (The Studio Challenges May sketch)

The Studio Challenges has another great sketch to inspire you today, Valerie has created this sketch inspired by Jinny's April challenge layout.

Here is my take on the sketch:

My neighbour has a pond with koi fish. Luckily he has lots, and they breed naturally so quickly that he need to sell 50-60 each summer. If not, I think my cat Ponky would have been in big trouble if he discovered this:

Background paper: WRMK. Other patterned paper: Basic Grey. Hanging wood sign: Kaiser Kraft. Alpha: AC. Woode word, fabric badge & wood camera: Freckled Fawn. Tag, button & resin fish: unknown

I streched the design a bit to fit landscape oriented photos, and I used the same one twice. Who says you can't *lol*?

Details:

Here is a trick for you when using busy background papers: go with a completely different color in the title -  it takes the focus away from the busy paper and lead your eyes to the photos. Imagine the tiltle in brown - your eyes would immidiately be drawn to the busy, right hand side.

Please link up your takes to the side bar at the The Studio Challenges blog, we would love to see what you do with this lovely sketch, you have until June 8th to enter!

EDIT May13th: Extra, extra!

Hvae you seen this blog post at Paper Isuues featuring Simple Stories? The post is called It's raining Cats and dogs and has lots of inspiration for layouts about furry friends and rainy days. Head over to see!

Gyro Trampoline - CSI 93

This week we have this cool color combo and sketch for you at CSI:

Here is my interpretation of the challenge:

Patterned papers: Amy Tangerine (backround pp), October Afternoon (print), MME (blue striped), Lemon Owl (grenn dotted). Flashcards: Ocotober Afternoon. Alpha: AC & Ocotober Afternoon. Wood planes: Studio Calico.
Adventure Tag: WRMK. Enamel dots: MME. Metal clip & washi: unknown

The story behind (=the journaling):

Beitostoelen June 2013 - we had the chance to use a gyro trampoline. M&T were in their usual teen mood and had big plans about how high they would jump and which stunts they would perform. Then it turned out that a gyro trampoline is completely different from an ordinary one - and they acomplished nothing - they didn't dare to perform any of what they had planned.

For the record: I did not try this one myself. Due to inner ear issues, anthing moving makes me dizzy for days: roller coasters, trampo, even fast going elevators...
Details:

How I solved the case:
*All colors used
* Evidence: Airplane accents, numbers (on trim), ribbon, text print, triangels (on washi), tag
*Testimony: inspiration Words

Have you ever tried a gyro trampoline?

I hope you all get a chance to play along this month. There are SOME AMAZING prizes up for grabs and don't forget about the OUAS Facebook contest!!! When you play along this month please post your layout at the OUAS Facebook Page HERE, toowhere a RANDOM winner will be chosen to win this prize from our monthly Facebook sponsor 13arts.

Here is the October Sketch:

And this is the Ocober journaling theme:

 "The Journey..."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

My example for you

Papers/stickers: WRMK. Paper Clip, enamel dots & fabric brad: Freckled Fawn.
Other brads Teresa Collins. Stamps: Jillibean Soup

I chose to go with a bold color sheme this time, to match the colors in my photo:
The photo was taken during or road trip this summer, and the journaling says:
"This is the Message you don't want your GPS to display, particulary not when the option is 140 km (100 miles) longer, But luckily, the GPS was wrong, and the short cut was open".

Details:

Do you trust your GPS - always?

Now head over to the OUAS blog to play along and to see the rest of the DT's fabolous examples!
