Let it snow

We finally have "real" winter and snow here in my part of Norway. But brrr!, it has been cold the last couple of weeks: between -18C and -10C (0-10F). But I don't complain: I prefer the clean & cold snow over grey & dirty!

Snow means shoveling. As our roof is steep and slick, the snow on it usually comes down from it all at once - which means more shoveling. And of course the snow lands just outside the front door: that's what the journaling in this layout is about :-)

Cardstock & vellum: ClubScrap. Paint/modelling paste: Panduro. Mask: ClearSnaps: Alphas: American Crafts. Snowflake brads: Freckled Fawn. Dies: Life Style Crafts. Doilie: unknown

The January Take 5 Tuesday Challenge at Paper Issues, inpired me to make this layout. Here’s how it works: each month there will be a list of items to use as inspiration and starting point for your project. From that list, you pick 5 items to use on your project. From the January liste I picked color green, snowflake, die cut, paint, alpha sticker, title, cardstock and hand written journaling.

Thank you for taking your time to stop by! What's the weather like in your part of the world?

Make Time Fun (Card Week day 6)

A new card for mum, my biggest fan :-)

Patterned papers & stickers: Echo Park. Fabric covered brads: Basic Grey. Dies: Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts. Other brads: unknown

I had just scraps left of the Echo Park collection Creative Agenda to make this card, but when I dug into my old stash, I found some old Basic Grey fabric covered brads which was the perfect match!

I also pulled out my old Quickutz Squeese and dies, to make some flowers - a great way to use scraps and have matching ambellies

The design for this card is taken from the right part of this sketch at Let's Scrap:

Let's Scrap and Feeling Sketchy has teamed up this  month for International Scrapbooking Day
The twist is to play at both siites :-) Here is yesterday's post where I show my take on the Feeling Sketchy challenge.

Have a happy Sunday and please come back tomorrow for the last card in my Card Week - a Just Because card :-)

Why Christmas almost got cancelled..

Because Mercedes killed Santa...

Patterned papers: Glitz Designs, AC, MME. Brads: MME. Dies: Lifestyle Crafts. Alphas: Echo Park, Crate Paper

This layout is made for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges:

As its so close to Christmas we want you to create Christmas layouts, easy right?! But there is a little twist, we want you to use non traditional colours for your layouts! Which colours will you pick?

I figured a depressive photo and theme needed depressive colors *lol*

And yes,  I know there is  a typo in the title - I just din't have time to make it up before the release! Can you find it?

Need inpiration to scrap Christmas photos, but not a fan of traditional colors? Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the DT's take on the challenge, and to play with us. You have until Jnauary 4th (2015) to play along!

The Studio Challenges: Scraplift yourself!

This week's challenge at The Studio Challenges:

Scrap lift yourself - take a layout that you loved that's at least a year old and scrap lift yourself!
Please include both your layouts!

I usually scrap with 7,5 * 10 cm photos, but I had this photo I wanted to be larger, 10*15 cm. So I browsed my 2012 layouts to see if I could find a design suited for a larger photo. I picked this layout made in September 2012:

Here is my new layout, featuring my youngest kid (laying in the snow) and his BF laughing about his big failure when attempting to do a trick with his snow toy:

Background paper: AC Dear Lizzy. Other papers: Lily Bee Designs, MME, Lemon Owl, Crate papers, Echo Park. Alpha: Fancy Pants Design. Epoxy stickers, metal clip, flair, wood flags, snowflake brad: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & fiber: unknown. Snowflake dies: LifestyleCrafts

Close up photos/details:

Please visit The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's loveley examples and to play along!

Do you ever scraplift yourself (or others), btw?

Hello snow (Chic Tags sketch challenge)

We still haven't much snow in my part of Norway, which means we have to seek it if we want to go skiing.
Last weekend hubby and youngest kid went up with a friend to his cabin in the mountains, and there surely was snow there!

Background paper: Dotted papers (on snowflakes) & Tags: Chic Tags. Crochet doilies: MME. Chipboard:
Simple Stories. Flocked snowflake brads: Freckled Fawn. Alphas: Websters pages (lilac), October Afternoon (brown). Dies: Lifestyle Crafts

Will you believe me when I say this is NOT a black/white photo? If you study it carefulle you will discover that the sticks are brown and the lamp post with some blue in it :-)

Cut out snowflakes are made from a chic tags packaging

The banner pieces are made from a journaling card, cut in three.

I usually scrap with 3*4" photos, but it was perfect to use a huge one to ephasize the beauty of all the snow. I got the idea for this layout from this sketch at the Chic Tags' blog:

I definately will use oversized photos again!
Do you ever do it?

The Ski Star (Chic Tags sketch challenge)

Even the ski resorts around here have had less snow than normal this Winter, so the big jumps weren't ready when we visited Beitostølen (a Norwegian ski resort) last weekend. But they had prepared some smaller jumps, so the kids could practise a few tricks.

DS14's big goal this winter is to complete a front flip on ski, but this weekend all he could do was spins and twists, due to lack of big jumps. Here he is:

Background paper: Studio Calico. Tags & journaling cards: Chic Tags. Arrow metal clips & snowflake brad: Freckled Fawn. Flair: The Paper Bakery. Alpha: Jillibean Soup. Snowflake dies: LifestyleCrafts

Close ups:
The blue dotted paper on my snowflake is from a Chic Tag pakcaging
Tags are fastened with 3D dots to add depth to the layout

The matting behind the photos are journaling cards.

Chic Tags had a grab bag sale a while ago and I bought one. I have been splurging with htier fun tags lately, testing out different ways to use them. They are really "my thing" and I can't wait to start shopping the new releases.

I was browsing the Chic Tags blog when this sketch cought my eyes. I often do my own designs, but  I find it very relaxing working with sketches, as I then don't have to worry about whipping up a new design.

I flipped the sketch to fit my photos, and replaced most of the circles with triangles, but exept for that I kept close to the sketch.

Have a fabolous day :-)
