Launch! (TSC "Old stuff" challenge)

The Studio Challenges 15th March: Use your old stash
We want you to uncover your old stash, we all have papers and embellishments that must be years old, now is the time to use some up! The older the papers and embellishments the better!

Does anyone remember the manufactorer DaisyD? The paper collection used on this layout is one of my favs ever - and luckily I still have plenty :-) I hoarded it when it still was in the shops, like 5-6 years ago. I also have dug out old brads, rubons, stickers and fiber. I belive the only stuff newer than 4 years is the large alpha.
Ahhh, it feels great to have used all these old items!

Patterned papers: DaisyD. Tags: K&Company. Rubons: MME, Basic Grey. Brads: MME, Pink Paislee, LYB, AC. Arrow stickers: Heidi Swapp. Alpha: AC
 Close ups:

I'm sure you have some old stuff around, too! Why not grab it and play with us at The Studio Challenges?

The entire 2014 in one single page :-)

Here is today's challenge at The Studio Challenges:

Today's challenge is all about reflections.  We want you to create a project that focuses on 2014. Instead of looking forward we want you to look back at the year that has gone: what was the best thing that happened, what did you learn in the year or maybe you would like to review it month by month. It's up to you!

2014 has been a very challenging year for my family: there has been injuries, sickness, death, financial insecurity blah blah blah, but it ended very good. When we were in the middle of it, it was rough, but now we have peace and are looking forward for a fabolous 2015!

Grey cardstock: Bazill. Patterned papers: Bo Bunny (background), Lemon Owl (numbers), unknown (tabs). Cut files: Silhouette

My hubby gave me a cutting machine, a Cameo, for Christmas - it has been on my wish list for two years ++, and I ccouldn't resist playing with it for this challenge. Details:

I used 3D foam for the numbers, just to give the design more depth. The calendar tabs are not glued all way round, so most edges are free to rise a bit.

Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's work, and to play along!

Why Christmas almost got cancelled..

Because Mercedes killed Santa...

Patterned papers: Glitz Designs, AC, MME. Brads: MME. Dies: Lifestyle Crafts. Alphas: Echo Park, Crate Paper

This layout is made for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges:

As its so close to Christmas we want you to create Christmas layouts, easy right?! But there is a little twist, we want you to use non traditional colours for your layouts! Which colours will you pick?

I figured a depressive photo and theme needed depressive colors *lol*

And yes,  I know there is  a typo in the title - I just din't have time to make it up before the release! Can you find it?

Need inpiration to scrap Christmas photos, but not a fan of traditional colors? Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the DT's take on the challenge, and to play with us. You have until Jnauary 4th (2015) to play along!

Towel Elephant (The Studio Challenges Mixed Media challenge)

Isn't this dude the cutest?
We were out for dinner, and when we came back to our stateroom on the cruise ship (yepp, cruising in September) he just was there :-)

I made this layout as an example for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges:

Mixed Media - create a mixed media inspired layout, time to get messy!

For those of you that may need a little help, here's the definition of Mixed media:
A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that are combined in a single composition.

Details/close up photos:

Gesso, masking and stamping

Pucinella, torn edges, wire, masking & stamping.

More details

I admit I don't do much mixed media, mostly because I don't have the patiente for stuff to dry, but I always love the finished item :-)

Smile and say cheese - large photo challenge at The Studio Challenges

Today, at The Studio Challenges, we want you to create a layout that focuses on the photo:

Please use a photo that is bigger than standard 4" x 6" size on your layout. How big can you go?!

Thes guys below are my two sons during a session with two professional photographers at a cruise earlier this fall. When I picked this photo as one of my favs, the photographers though I was crazy - was this something to keep? I knew it would be perfect for telling the story about the session and I love how this layout came out.

Papers: Echo Park (with cameras), October Afternoon (with caption). Vellum: Studio Calico. Brads: MME (Black), Eyeletoutlet (camera). Washi unknown. Hemp: my grocery store

Details:

I do apologize for the slighty angled image - I need to practise on taking good shots of my layouts :-)

Smooth Sailing (The Studio Challenges September Sketch Challenge)

For today's challenge at The Studio Challenges, we have a lovely sketch created by Valerie.  Her sketch is based off the button layout that our August Guest Designer, Kerry Bruce, created.
Here is the sketch:

Here is my take on it, featuring my sons on a mini cruise to Kiel, Germany

PL collection: American Craft Nautical. Overlay: American Craft. Vellum pieces: Studio Calico. Alphas Fancy Pants (blue), American Craft (white). Wire: my local florist. Buttons: unknown

The patterned papers are cards from a Project life collection - I think hey work great for layering!

Details:

The wire is from my local florist...  and the bottons cut from worn out jackets.

Now please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's wonderful examples and to play along.

Welcome to my Memory Maze world

I have a big crush on chipboards, so you can tell I was tickled pink when I was picked to the first DT ever at the Australian chipboard manufactorer Memory Maze

Today I have my first DT post at the Memory Maze blog. I have chosen to show a number of ways to use card sized chipboard phrases on both numbers and cards.

Here is one of the creations:

Patterned Papers: Studio Calicio. Chipboard: Memory Maze. Small alpha: Cosmo Cricket
Large Alpha: Sassafras Lass. Button, twine & raindrops: unknown

I found this photos of DS13 when I was looking for a printer manual the other day, and I couldn't resist scrapping them.

Photo taken in 2000?

The Chipboard phrase is painted with acrylic paint

You will find the other two creations in the Memory Maze blog post as well as details about chipboard ID numbers etc. I'll display the rest of my creations on my blog next week but you are welcome to see them all at the Memory Maze blog today:-)

Do you like working with chipboard?

A new badge and a layout to share

It's now official: I'm part of The Studio Challenges DT :-)

My first reveal will be on Sunday February 3rd, and I promise you - we have lots and lots off different, fun and inspiring  challenges coming up in the future! So pay the The Studio Challenges blog a visit, have a look at the previous challenges, and don't forget to follow us so you don't miss any of the fun!

----------------------------

And I finally have a layout to share:

Patterned papers: Crate Papers (backgruond paper), Sassafras lass (heart paper), MME (other papers)
Chipboards: Maya Road (snowflakes), Imaginarium Designs (swirls). Alpha: Cosmo Cricket
Diamond shape stamp, embossing powder, buttons, dotted washi tape, snowflake brads: unknown

I pulled out an old stamp with diamond shapes on and wet embossed the pattern. I haven't embossed on pages in ages, but obviously I hadn't forgotten how to do it. I often use my chipboard raw, or paint it, but this time embossing them gave the perfect look for my theme

Some close up photos:

The diamond shapes are made with a stamp and embossing powder, the swirl is embossed, too

Circular chipboard covered with dotted washi.

I found inspiration for this layout in CSI Case File #55:

How I solved the case:
Colors: All colors used + neutral background
Evidence: Diamond chapes + circles
Testimony: Journalling six interesting things about my subject (you will see this option on the CSI blog)

The photo of DS10 is taken during a break while skiing in the Norwgegian ski resort Kongsberg, and my journaling is about skiing and the resort itself.

So I pulled out old stamps and my embossing powder - something I haven't done in ages. Have you done something "old" lately?
