Family memories - a Christmas two pager

Hi folks!

Have you enjoyed the holidays so far?
I have - I'm lucky to be two weeks off (doesn't happen every year) and this Christmas we have had lot of family visiting - busy, but fun.

Christmas Eve is one of the most important days in Norway - that's when the family dress up, have a lrge meal, and open presents. This Christmas both my parents were with us, that hasn't happened since they got divorced in 1988 (!), along with my dad's wife, and one of my cousins.

Cardstock: Bazill. patterned papers & cut outs: American Craft. Cut files: Silhouette

Of course we missed my FIL, who lived with us until he passed away in July, but had a toast for him and wished him Merry Christmas in other ways (I'll scrap about that later).

Individual pages:

Sweet hubby gave me a Silhoutte Cameo for Christmas - it has been on my wish list for two years +, and I have been practicing ever after since. This lace heart, along with the words in the title, are some of the first attempts.

I rarely use holiday season lines for my creations, but this "be Merry" collection, from AC was just up my alley - they came in the December Creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club

Details:

I founde the design for this two pager at Let's Scrap - sketch 12-24-14:

As you see I followed the sketch pretty close,

Have you scrapped your holiday photos yet?

Why Christmas almost got cancelled..

Because Mercedes killed Santa...

Patterned papers: Glitz Designs, AC, MME. Brads: MME. Dies: Lifestyle Crafts. Alphas: Echo Park, Crate Paper

This layout is made for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges:

As its so close to Christmas we want you to create Christmas layouts, easy right?! But there is a little twist, we want you to use non traditional colours for your layouts! Which colours will you pick?

I figured a depressive photo and theme needed depressive colors *lol*

And yes,  I know there is  a typo in the title - I just din't have time to make it up before the release! Can you find it?

Need inpiration to scrap Christmas photos, but not a fan of traditional colors? Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the DT's take on the challenge, and to play with us. You have until Jnauary 4th (2015) to play along!

A cute critter Christmas card - just for fun

Ohhh, this blog has been so neglected lately. Why? Because I am preparing for the upcoming holidays and has put scrapping away for some weeks - I'd rather make candy, bake and do other fun stuff! I have beeen making cards, but have not bothered to take photos of them. Not because they were ugly, but because the light conditions were lousy and I was too lazy to fight for decent images.... Bad me.

But this one was photoed - a card I made just for fun:

All materials are scraps/one-of-a-kind items - I have no idea about manufactorers.

Have you made any Christmas cards this year?

Childhood memories (The Studio Challenges December 7th Challenge)

As a kid, my mum, and later I, put our photos in albums and wrote some notes/the story behind the photos along with the photos. This is why I know this photo of my brother, my dad and I, was taken in 1976 on a canoe trip close to the Swedish border. The snap shoot photos are often of poor quality, but still good enough to tell about the 1976 camping fashion :-). On short line in the journaling tells that we still have the canoe - and use it!

CS: ClubScrap. Patterned papers: Harmonie, Fancy Pants Design. Wood items: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & cutouts: unknown

Here is this week's challenge at The Studio Challenges:
The Challenge today is: Childhood Memories, now is the time to go digging and find a lovely childhood photo with a story behind it. You could even recreate the photo, then and now!

This would be the perfect challenge for scrapping the old Christmas photo of you - or any other old photo!

Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's childhood memories and to play along. You have until January 4th to link up your creation!

The first Christmas cards this year :-)

Phew, I have never started this late before :-)
But with good help and inspiration from some of my favourite challenge blogs, I'm in!

Here are my first Christmas cards this year, and the challenges they are inspired from. Actually none  of the cards are very complicted, and they are not even made with tradional season papers or embellies (snow flakes, as I live in Norway, don't mean Christmas for me, but winter season).

This one is made with card sketch #37 at Sketch-N-Scrap:

The second card is inspired by the Tag It Challenge at Scrap Africa:

Please ccme back later this week, as I have more critter Chrsitmas cards for you - a soin of from the second card on this page.

Daily routines - here are some of mine!

Hey, everyone!  What does your normal day look like?  Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is all about scrapping your daily routine.  Your daily routine may not seem exciting or scrap-worthy, but we have a feeling that you'll appreciate the fact that you scrapped the "little moments" in a few years...

My morning routine: get out of bed, put the kettle on, take the dog out while I walk to pick up the news paper. News on digital medias is not the same as a real piece of paper!

Background paper: SEI. Other patterned papers: Lemon Owl. "Love This" card: Jillibean Soup. Metal clips: Freckled Fawn
Felt/fabric shapes: Charms Creations. Shaped cuts: unknown. Pearls: Scrappers Choice
 Details:

Please head over to The Studio Challenges Blog to see the rest of the DT reveal and to play along.  Please link up your entries by 7th December.

We now have a Facebook group for fans of The Studio to chat in, please come by and join in with the chat, we would love to see you there.

The Fortezza

In Rethymnon (Crete, Greece) there is an old fortification watching over the town, the Fortezza. DS12 love that kind of stuff (just as much as DS15 has no interest of it and hates it *lol*) and was more than villing to visit it. He's the kind of kid who will tap the old stone walls, use his imagination and have a clear opinion about how these old fortifications worked. I think the highlight for him on this specific tour was finding this huge stack of old cannon bullets.

The entrance ticket is a part of the photo matting.
The materials are a true manufactorer mix and findings from my pile of scraps/ one-of-a-kind embellies.

Details:

DS12 knows nights didn't fight dragons in "the old days", but these chipboards are still fun embellies for the theme.

The design on this page is taken from Sketch-N-Scrap "Inpired by" Sketch # 11

I stayed close to the sketch, as it worked well as it was for my photo/theme this time!

Goal!

Even if my FIL was very weak the last month before he died in July, he enjoyed Soccer World Championship - and kept his good sense of humour (the journaling is about him beeing so weak).

Papers, banners & stickers: SEI. Rosette: Pebbles. Buttons & flag: unknown

I have had these old soccer themed papers laying around since DS15 played years ago. It feels good to finally have used them! I was also very happy to discover that I had no soccer ball shaped brads any longer :-)

The design is taken from Sketch #002 at Paper Issues:

Tell me, when was the last time you used sport themed papers? I haven't done it in ages - it feels a kind of "old school" *lol*

Caves - a two pager (!)

Just down by the hotel DS12 & I stayed at in Corfu, Greece, this summer, some locals offered tours to the nearby caves in their small boats. Small boats were great, as we could go into the caves where the bigger boats couldn't. It was so worth it, beacuse the caves were beautiful: beautiful with their rock colors made from minerals in the water over thousand of years, stalagmites and the beautiful light (click on photo for a larger version).

Papers & stickers: Echo Park. Alpha: AC. Washi: Freckled Fawn. Flair: Basic Grey. Buttons & clips: unknown

For details, please scroll down :-)

I have had these photos laying around for a while, but as I wanted to use more than just a photo or two, I hadn't decided how to scrap them. But when I saw this lovely sketch at Let's Scrap, it was obvious.

Details:

I haven't made a twopager in ages, but it wasn't that hard with a great sketch! When was the last time you made one?

Rock Lobster lunch

When DS12 and I was in Crete this summer, we had a great lunch at a sea food restaurant in Rethymnon. They had rock lobster on the menu, and as none uf us had eaten it before, we decided to dig in. Oh my, so yummie!

DS12 studying his plate before we start eating:

Background paper: Authentic. Other papers: Bo Bunny. Cut outs: & alpha: AC. Brads: MME. Epoxy stickers/words: Heidi Swapp.

The design is taken from this great sketch at Scrap Africa (sketch challenge 38):

I wanted to recreate that summer feeling from our holidays and spent the rest of my scraps from Bo Bunny's Lemonade Stand collection. I just love the bright happy colors!

Thank you for popping by - you know it means a lot to me!

Class photo - scrapping it just for fun

I was was browsing through the Big Photo post at The Studio Challenges when Anastasia's example gave me the idea on how to scrap DS12's class photo which was laying on the my desk.

Patterned papers, stickers & cutoouts: Doodlebug Designs. Ribbon & brad: unknown
The photo is taken this fall, so the Doodlebug designs' "Friendly Forrest collection had the perfect colors and patterns for my photo.

Close ups from the bottom part:

I have a few older class photos laying around, which I never have scrapped - I may lif myself and finally do them. As they go in different albums, nobody probably will ever notice they all have the same design *lol*

Do you struggle with scrapping class photos, too?

Ashes to ashes (The Studio November Sketch)

At The Studio Challenges it is time for another lovely sketch that Valerie as created for us. This time she took inspiration from Tessa's August Mood board layout. What a great sketch to get your inspiration going!

My FIL passed away in July. He didn't want a grave with a tomstone, so we applied the authorities for permission to spread his ashes into the sea, Permission was obtained and in late september we spread his ashes. We live at the seaside so every time we look at the window we are reminded of him.

Patterned papers, stickers cutouts & alpha: Doodlebug Designs. Flowers: Bo Bunny. Buttons & brads: unknown

Please come and join us at The Studio Challenges. You have until December 7th to upload your layouts :-)

The 7th grader

I cannot believe my youngest kid is 12 years old and a 7th grader. Here is this fall's school photo of him.

Patterned papers & stickers: Echo Park. Title: MyCreativeScrapbookKits

The Echo Park collection Creative Agenda was perfect for the theme!

The title came as part of the MyCreativeScrapbook September kit along with the collection mentioned.

I just loved all the white space in Creative Scrappers' sketch #281 and had to give it a try:

Have you scrapped this year's school photos yet?

Please return on Tuesday where I will show how I scrapped DS12's class photo, the most challenging photo to scrap, in my opinion!

Hello Barcelona!

We put in an extra day in Barcelona before embarquing our cruise ship in September.

What an awesome city! It had it all: architecture, culture, sea front, shopping, food markets etc etc. I want to go back, but then I need to stay longer to see and explore more.

Here are me and the kids heading out in the morning:

Patterned papers/die cuts: 4heures37. Wood veeners & vellum geo tag: Studio Calico. Button, words, stamps & brown alpha: Jillibean Soup. Black alpha: AC. Flair: Basic Grey

DS15's pink shirt was a perfect match for these fun papers from French "4heures37".

Close ups:

The design is from this lovely November sketch at SCRaP365:

Thank you for stopping by - you know it means a lot to me :-)
Have a great week!
