Let's go crazy - CSI#116

I believe every child here in Norway dream of a winter when it's snow enough to take a jump from the roof :-) We din't have enough at home this winter, but some parts of the mountains indeed have!

Here is DS11 when his wish came true:

Cardstock: Bazill (white), ClubScrap (greenish grey). Patterened papers: MME (teal), Panduro (red). Stickers & metal stars: Basic Grey. Epoxy stars & iresin badge: Freckled Fawn. Stamp: Kaisekraft. Alpha: American Craft. Epoxy buttons: Epiphany Crafts. Other metal accents: unknown
The journaling says the same as I did on top of this page :-)

Close up photos:

The metal accent is a badge from a boy bonnet :-)

This layout is made for CSI #114:

How I solved the case:

*Colors: all used
*Evidence: metal, buttons, labels, diagonal cross-hatch pattern
* Testimony: Use song title or lyrics to inspire your journaling ( I used Prince's let's Go Crazy)

As a kid, my parents allowed me to jump from the roof when enough snow, and I can still recall teh feeling of excitement. Have you ever done it?

M@14 - The Studio Challenges' M challenge

The requirement in our next challenge at The Studio Challenges is easy:

M for March - make a layout using the letter M! It could be the title or anything being with M!

This is my son M. He's fourteen. As a toddler he was the Early Morning Bird, but that has changed. If he was allowed to, he would probably sleep all day long (sounds familiar?)

Petterned papers: Pebbles (plaid), Basic Grey (black/teal striped), October Afternoon (grey chevron, cream with teal/grey stripes). Wooden numbers: Freckled Fawn. Patterned chipboard: October Afternoon. Alphas: AC. Mask & badge: The Paper Bakery. Pen: Zig. Duct tape stickers: Pebbles. Stamp: TC Stamp maker

Details: painted wooden numbers, duct tape sticker, paint, stamping etc. I think the clocks on one of the patterned  emphasized my theme perfectly!

The paint splatters are made with a mask (The Paper Bakery) and a pen :-)

Please head over to the The Studio Challenges blog to see what the rest of the DT have come up with and to play along!

Broken - CSI #114

Djeeez...
The last month have been all about bone fractures!

DS11 broke his left arm mid ffebruary while using his trick bike, and it was actually on flat asphalt. I was visiting my mum, who is in hospital with a nasty ankel fracture, when my husband called and told he would take the kid to the ER to check out the arm. I couldn't help bursting out laughing, as this was the absolute cherry on top: challenges have lined up for the last few months, and this one was so welcome. NOT.

Luckily this fracture was clean and neat, but the kid had to go through a minor surgery to have some spikes put in temporarely. The photo in my layout is taken before the surgery

Cardstock: ClubScrap. (yellow, green, red), Bazill (black, white). Alpha: SEI. Rubons: Basic Grey. Brads: Kaiserkraft. Metall arrows, resin badge: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & washi: unknown

Close up photo of journaling:

This layout is my example for CSI #114:

How I solved the case:
*Colors: all used
*Evidence: cardstock only (no patterned papers), nymbers, rubons, circles
*Testimony: Write your journaling as a series of questions

It's been a long time since I have used no patterned paper on a layout. What about you?

Celebrating You (card)

I was lucky and won a grab bag full of Chic Tag yummies in December: tags, journaling cards etc.
I have played a lot with in on layouts, but I thought it was time to try them out on cards, too.

Background paper: Glitz Designs. Journaling card, tags & cutouts: Chic Tags.
Wire: my local florist. Owl & ribbon: unknown
3D foam adds depth to the card, and the wire structure.

The design was taken from Cardabilities sketch #94.

 Isn't this a fun one?

Thank you for taking time to stop by :-)

No Speedy Recovery (CSI #113)

This is my mum.

She fell of a ladder late January and had some really nasty fractures in the ankel and heel area. She is still in hospital, have had ten surgeries so far and there is still a few more to come to remove steel screews and spikes. Poor mum.

Patterned paper, banner parts & cut outs: MME. Envelope & pin: Websters pages. Metal heart, metal clip & wood veener: Freckled Fawn. Alpha: Basic Grey. Cloth pins: Pebbles. Type writer, ribbons & buttons: unknown

The journaling are details about what the surgeants have done to her ankel and feet, and what the steel construction is all about.

More close up photos:

This layout was made for CSI#113:

How I solved the case:
*Colors: all used
*Evidedence: Ledger paper, cameras, hearts, typewriter, envelope, banner
*Testimony: Zoom in on your photo and tell about a part of your picture

So far in life I only have broken a few ribs, and someback spines, but I never needed surgery, and I'm crossing my fingers it will stay that way. What about you? Anything broken?

Exterior Design - CSI Special case

This month, CSI has collaborated with the challenge site Archi-scraps and the image and clues are related to this:

Here is my take on it:

Overlay: Freckled Fawn. Alpha: Basic Grey (white), AC (green). Houses & buttons: unknown. Paint: Panduro

Osterøy is an island on the west coast of Norway and the journaling says: "In older days, they had to use what was found in nature: rocks for the walls and juniper for the coverings"

Detail photo:

How I solved the case:
*Colors: all used
*Evidence: Stripes, decorative border, paint
*Testimony: Document something about architecture

You have until March 28th to play along, and the winner will earn a spot as a Special Investigater (guest designer). Do we see you?

Fur Ball (Chic Tags Feb. Sketch Challenge)

Background paper: Crate Paper. Alpha: Jillibean Soup. Twine: the twinery. All others: Chic Tags' february kit

Journaling says: "If her feet weren't black, it would be hard to tell what's up and down on Mercedes"

A close up photo on Mercedes, the cat - the fur ball:

T
The Chick Tag kits might be designed for pocket scrapping, but I find them perfect for traditional scrapping, too. I cut the cards into pieces, or use just parts of them, to fit my style.

I found inspiration for this layout at the Chic Tags blog: February Sketch It Out:

I loved the blue/pink/grey color combo in their February kit, and it turned out the Crate Paper doilie paper was a perfect match. This was one of the papers I had laying around, thinking "how on earth am I going to use this". I just love when "impossible" papers turns out to be the perfect one.

Thank you for stopping by - you know I really appreciate it! Have a wonderful week!

The Studio Challenges: Scraplift yourself!

This week's challenge at The Studio Challenges:

Scrap lift yourself - take a layout that you loved that's at least a year old and scrap lift yourself!
Please include both your layouts!

I usually scrap with 7,5 * 10 cm photos, but I had this photo I wanted to be larger, 10*15 cm. So I browsed my 2012 layouts to see if I could find a design suited for a larger photo. I picked this layout made in September 2012:

Here is my new layout, featuring my youngest kid (laying in the snow) and his BF laughing about his big failure when attempting to do a trick with his snow toy:

Background paper: AC Dear Lizzy. Other papers: Lily Bee Designs, MME, Lemon Owl, Crate papers, Echo Park. Alpha: Fancy Pants Design. Epoxy stickers, metal clip, flair, wood flags, snowflake brad: Freckled Fawn. Buttons & fiber: unknown. Snowflake dies: LifestyleCrafts

Close up photos/details:

Please visit The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's loveley examples and to play along!

Do you ever scraplift yourself (or others), btw?
