Christmas cards made with non seasonal materials - Deers!

For a few years I have challenged myself to make Christmas cards with non seasonal papers: It's a great way to use up scraps and left over embellies.

I have some favorite dies which are perfect for the purpose - one of them is a deer dies from LifeStyleCrafts (Quickutz). As you will see all the cards below are based on the same design, but I still didn't feel mass producing as they are all with different colors and patterns.

"God jul" means "Merry Christmas" in Norwegian :-)

Paper on deer: MME. Bow: Freckled Fawn. The rest: unknown

Paper on deer: MME.. The rest: unknown

Alpha: Webster's Pages. The rest: unknown

Backround paper: LYB. Paper on deer: MME. Bow: Freckled Fawn. The rest: unknown

As I said, all of these cards were made from paper scraps, and I'm sorry I can't recall all manufactorers.

I'll be back next week with  more Christmas cards, both deer cards made with traditional papers, but also with more cards non seasonal style, made with my other favourite dies, a bulbe.

A card - just for fun!

OK, that's not completely true - I got an order from one of my frequent (card) customers, a young carpenter at work - he wanted a card for his MIL who turns 50 this weekend. He gave me pretty free hands to make whatever I wanted, so I made this:

Patterned papers: Webster's Pages (green dotted pp: MME). "What's up": Studio Calico.
Flowers, Pearls: Petaloo. Chipboard: Memory Maze. Numbers: AC. Pebble: Prima
Ribbon: Unknown. Dies: LifestyleCrafts
 Details:

My customer was thrilled when he saw the card, and said he couldn't wait to show it to his wife and give it to his mum. What a lovely feed back.

Do you make Cards for other People, or just for Your own use?

The optimist - a yellow, monochromatic LO for the TSC

Hello.

Today we have a new challenge for you at The Studio Challenges (TSC):

Today's challenge is to create a monochromatic layout.

For those of you that need a little help with the word, 'Monochromatic' means using different shades and hues of a single colour!

The TSC DT members have all picked different colors, so please visit the blog to see what they have done.

I picked yellow as my color and her is my example for you:

Title: The Optimist

Background paper, ric-rac: unknown. Other papers: Studio Calico. Pinwheel:Queen &co. Tag: Chic Tags
Enamel dots: MME Alpha Dies: LifestyleCrafts

My youngest kid is a creative one, in many ways. He wanted to test out if the loan mower could be used to pull him on his long board. It didn't work out as he planned, though: The combo of long grass and small wheels, was a bad one. This made have worked on a smother surface, though :-)

To create a true monochromatic layout, I inked all white parts on the patterned papers with yellow ink.
Photoshop + me = not friends. I printed my photo in b/w and simply used a yellow marker on the parts I wanted to be colored. Easy peasy :-)

Have you ever made a monochromatic layout? Will you give this a try?

PS This month TSC has a wonderful sponsor: Teresa Collins Stampmaker. Hop over to the TSC blog to see how you can win stamps!
