Milk Shake Lovers United

Usually my kids don't care about which photos I scrap - they usually look at photos on the computer - but DS11 begged if I pleeeeaseee could scrap these photos of him and his friends drinking milk shake on a taverna on night in Crete, Greece.

Of course I could.

Patterned papers, stickers & green alpha: Bo Bunny. Flair: Ormolou. Rosette: Pebbles. Black Alpha: AC

Journaling says: " S and mum often took a trip to the local taverna for a milk shake. One night we brough his new found friends R & S, too"

The photos had horrible colors, so I turned them into b/w - actually it ephasize that the photos was taken while dark. I just loved how the papers from the paper collection played with the theme, and how it turned out.

Close ups/details:

Fun, colorful stickers

The rosette says "Happy birthday", but I don't think anyone will notice :-)

The design on this layout is taken from the Bo Bunny October Sketch Challenge:

I stayed pretty close to the sketch, but replaced the photos with ones in other sizes, as well as I did with the large center backround paper. My hand cut lantern top, forced me to move the title to the left, but the main design from the layout should still be obvious.

Do you "stretch" sketches as I tend to do, too?

Older Siblings....

I was browsing around to get my mojo a kick behind - I often start with a sketch, a color combo or a prompt challenge - and a photo (shown further down) at Alt Om Scrap reminded me that I had a picture of my two boys eating Oreo cake laying on my desk.

Papers: Basic Grey. Stickers: Basic Grey/Freckled Fawn. Alpha: AC: Cake buttons: unknown

I wanted to tell another story than just about them eating cake on a ship in July, so I decided to tell tthe truth about older siblings - hence the title and journaling:

Older Siblings
The only people who will pick on you for their own entertainment
and beat up anyone else who tries.

The photo which inspired me to scrap this photo (and add cake buttons):

Details from the layout:

Layers, penwork. Strawberry button (note the berry on the kid's cake)

Ballon stickers in the right upper part to balance the design

Banner, cake button & pen work.

What do you say - do you agree with the saying about older siblings?

Towel Elephant (The Studio Challenges Mixed Media challenge)

Isn't this dude the cutest?
We were out for dinner, and when we came back to our stateroom on the cruise ship (yepp, cruising in September) he just was there :-)

I made this layout as an example for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges:

Mixed Media - create a mixed media inspired layout, time to get messy!

For those of you that may need a little help, here's the definition of Mixed media:
A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that are combined in a single composition.

Details/close up photos:

Gesso, masking and stamping

Pucinella, torn edges, wire, masking & stamping.

More details

I admit I don't do much mixed media, mostly because I don't have the patiente for stuff to dry, but I always love the finished item :-)

3*3 Flower cards galore

I use lots of 3*3 cards - they are so handy for writing short greetings or messages - and a neat way to use up scraps and one of a kind embellies.

I was completely out of cards, and decided to use flowers on my next batch - very much inspired by the Floral Card challenge at Sketch-N-Scrap.

Here they are, all of them:

A closer look at each card

Flower made of sequins and pearls. Stickers I finally got to use, a piece of trim and a butterfly

A dark red flower just to add som color
:
Theme: hearts. The background is an overlay.

The same overlay background. Left over stickers.

This owl got hereslf a bow :-)
I feels great to use left overs!

Bows add so much structure.

All you need to make a cars is a piece of scrap paper, a doilie, one flower and a few chipboards

Thank you for stopping by - you know it makes a lot to me?

Do you make small sized cards, too?

Life is great (@Jameson)

We have travelled a lot this year, so many of my layouts these days are about places we have visited.
I still collect tickets, maps and other ephermas from our trips, and I include a few of them in some of my layouts - very "old school" scrapping, but it reminds me of why I scrap: to preserve the memories (Side note: I admit I love buying new scrap stuff, too).

In the layout below, the bottom "patterned paper" is a certificate from the Jameson Destillery in Dublin, Irland, a certificate which proves I'm a "Qualified Whiskey Taster". Like I need a certificate to prove it *lol*

Top paper & journaling page: unknown. Epoxy stickers, cork stickers, vellum stickers, washi & brads: Freckled Fawn.
 Bling: Prima

The design comes from this fun sketch at Sketch-N-Scrap ("Inspired by" Sketch #10)

Details:

Do you include non-scrappy items in your layouts, or have you ever done it?

The restoration project

A month ago huby finally found his dream boat: a classic  - a 13 foot Selco Select - 1970 model.
The body is in quite good shape, but the seats: oh boy!

I know where to find my hubby this winter: in the garage (no room for his car for a while), making this baby pretty before the summer season.

Background paper & buttons: unknown. Journaling cards: Becky Higgins PL. Stickers & alpha: Authentic. Anchor & wheel dies: LaLaLand

I found the design in Sketch-N-Scrap's Sketch #66:

Some close up photos:

Do you - our your better half - have any restoration projects going on?

Smile and say cheese - large photo challenge at The Studio Challenges

Today, at The Studio Challenges, we want you to create a layout that focuses on the photo:

Please use a photo that is bigger than standard 4" x 6" size on your layout. How big can you go?!

Thes guys below are my two sons during a session with two professional photographers at a cruise earlier this fall. When I picked this photo as one of my favs, the photographers though I was crazy - was this something to keep? I knew it would be perfect for telling the story about the session and I love how this layout came out.

Papers: Echo Park (with cameras), October Afternoon (with caption). Vellum: Studio Calico. Brads: MME (Black), Eyeletoutlet (camera). Washi unknown. Hemp: my grocery store

Details:

I do apologize for the slighty angled image - I need to practise on taking good shots of my layouts :-)

Do you want to play with us?

Just a masculine card

With two boys and one man in the house, I'm always in need of masculine cards - you know, for friends' birthdays etc. The kids are older now, so tractor and soccer cards are not what they need anymore - they prefer cards for teenagers. Themes for teenagers are very easy to find - NOT - but bikes seem to go for all ages:

This card is simply made of a folded black cardstock, an overlay, a bike metal clip and some wood stars. Believe me; It's harder to get a decent photo of a card with shiny overlay than making the actual card :-)

The stars and metal clip add depth to the card, but it's still not bulky:

This card is my entry for the first October Card challenge at Sketch-And-Scrap: Make a masculine card.

Please tell me, do you struggle about themes for masculine cards, too, or is it just me?

Happy birthday card

The next card is a spin off of the first one, using metal clips on a card:

Cardstock, one piece of patterned paper, vellum, paper clips and chipboard is all I used for this card

A view from this angel shows how much depth metal clips and chipboard add to a card!

The design for this card is taken from this sketch at Sketch-N-Scrap (sketch #35):

I do like the falling dude made from paper clips on my card above - I might steel the idea for a layout I have in mind about my husband falling in a water slide *lol*

Thank you for stopping by!

Friends: Cliff, Guiness & I

Guess where we are, the hubby & I ?

Petterned papers: Basic Grey, Crate paper, unknown (green). Die Cuts: Glitz Designs, MME, AC, Ampersand & paper clip: Freckled Fawn. Alphas: Jilliebean Soup, Echo Park & Basic Grey. Beer stickers: Paper House. Camera brad: Eyelet outlet. Overlay &button: unknown

Yepp, that's correct: Dublin, Ireland. June 2014. You can't go to Dublin for the first time without visiting Guinness, the famous brewery!

I got the idea for this layout when I saw the October Challenge from Scrapfriends, three scrappers who cooperate about challenges - you can pick either one of them or combine two or three. I did all three.

Let's start with the sketch from Brenda:

I followed the sketch pretty close with just a few adjustments to make it my own.

Then Rochelle has a Tic-Tac-Toe board to inpire you:

I chose the horizontal line on top - here is some details to prove it :-)

Die cut & camera:

More die cuts & paper clip:

There are die cuts scttered all over this layout.

Finally, Kelly is throwing a word challenge

I picket the word Friends and used it as the title on my layout.

OK, Guinnes is a tourist trap, I knew it before we went there, but it was still interesting to see the beer making process! Do you visit tourist traps, too?

Closet - teenager style

Sometimes my 15 year old son is a mess - especially when it comes to clothes. He obviously think the railing in the hallway is the perfect place to hang his clothes - hence the tiltle on this post and layout :-)

Papers, vellum pieces and printed chipboard: Pink Paislee. Alphas: American Craft. Cloth chipboard: Maya Road. Byttons: unknown

When I saw the sketch below on My Creative Sketches, I immidiately thought of cloth lines. I had the photo of DS15's clothes laying on my desk, so this layout was quick to make.

Here are some details from the layout:

Thank you for taking your time to stop by :-)
