Twisted

Inspiration for designs and details on layouts can be found lots of places. One of my fav places is Paper Issues (PI) which not only is a store, but also have a creative design team which whip up monthly fun challenges on PI's FB-page. One of them is "Pawsitively Pets" and the september twist was to use, on your page "something new to you, and something you have hoarded".

Paper pieces & frames: Simple Stories. Wood veeners: Jillibean Soup (?). Alpha: AC. Enamel dots: MME. Buttons & cut out love heart: unknown

 Details

I often mix manufactores and it works out just fine!

I had, new to me, a package of photo frames and paper pieces (to be used on pocked pages) and desided it was time to dig into them. I am a button hoarder - I love buttons, and the wood cats are hoarded, too. Time to let them go!

Do you hoard scrap stuff, too?

Rock Hard!

Feel free to interpret the title as you want to:
  • Is it me telling my mum to (still) rock hard?
  • Is it her beeing rock hard (no, she's really a sweetie, but she's quite tough, too)?
  • Or is it just the feeling you get when you hug a cairn?
Your choice :-)

Papers & cut outs: Pink Fresh. Alpha: American Crafts. Sequin covered hearts & enamel hearts: Freckled Fawn. Brads: MME

Details:

Since I don't do any DT work atm, just scrap for my own amusement and to preserve memories, I suck inspiration wherever I find it. The idea for this spesific design came from a lifting challenge at Paper Issues (where I also bought the papers):

I have a hard time using large heart shapes, I replaced the large hearts in the layout with pieces of paper. I still you still can see the main design in my lift. Agree?

New sketch challenge at The Studio Challenges

Today we have this fun sketch by Valerie for you at The Studio Challenges:

My take on it:

Cardstock: Bazill. Patterned papers: MME. Cutouts/tags: Crate Paper. Hearts cut file: Paper Issues. Heart chipboard border: SA Crafters. Fabric ticket: Websters Pages. Alpha: Basic Grey. Stamps: Close To My Heart. Pearls: Kaiser Craft

I turned the sketch 90 degrees to fit my photo better and to give room for the big, long title.

The photo is featuring my DS12, licking the remains of strawberry coulis on his plate. Title says "Simen + strawberry coulis = true". If you don't know about coulis, check it here: it's just lovely with meat, such as veal!

Details:

Stitch stamps, even on the heart in upper left corner

Heart Cut file, chipboard border, fabric ticket, pearls

Come on over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT's loevly take on this sketch and to play along!

Back in the saddle

Fifteen year ago I left equestrian when I got pregnant with my oldest son - the huge belly was too much to carry when riding. Then we moved, got a new child, built a new house, changed jobs et etc - and I never got back on track again. Until this late fall.

Background paper: Kaiserkraft. Other papers: ClubScrap (green), October Afternoon (blue). Selfie-frame: Pebbles. Brad w/cutout: MME. Other cut outs: October Afternoon. Silver ruons: Pink Paislee. Alpha: AC. "Keep the wild..." sticker: Bella Blvd. Kraft envelopes w/chevrons: unknown

Journaling says:
"After a fiften year long brake, I found myself back in the saddle again. I knew I would be rusty, but could never imagine I would be so frightened - frightened to fall of and hurt myself again. But With Lille-Klompen (the horse's name) everything is safe and nice and fun!"

Details:

The saying on this sticker was perfect for this layout :-)

Fuzzy handcutting from an old October Afternoon collection:

Doing a page about myself back in the saddle first came to my mind when I saw the March mood board at Scrap Around The World:

I picked up elements like the horse (obvious?), the natural colors and the teal, and then the chevrons.

-------------------------------------------

I have wanted to do this layout for a while, but I finally got my but in gear when I played at the Paper Issues Online Crop this weekend. One of the challenges goes like this:
Kelly's Design Team Challenge

I am challenging YOU to scrap yourself. This must be a new, never before seen project (Layout or Project Life Spread only). You can use any product you like and make it any size you like. I want to see your face on the layout and hear something about you. (Even if it's just in the comments)

----------------------------

Both challenges are still open - feel like playing with any of them? Or maybe both?

Tag card. just for fun (Card week day 7)

So, this is the end of my card week - I hope you have enjoyed it. But fear not, there will be more cards coming later, at least one on Wednesday :-)
I have played at the Paper Issue Online Crop and some of the challenges were: cards!

I have this large, old stack of K & Company tags, and in my opinion they are perfect for cards:

Tag: K&Company. Patterned papers: Glitz Designs (blue), Lemon Owl (white/green). Butterfly:Websters pages. Trim: MME. Bling & ribbon: unknown

Some times mixing up manufactorers works perfectly!

Thank you for taking your time to stop by - you know it means a lot to me!

Launch! (TSC "Old stuff" challenge)

The Studio Challenges 15th March: Use your old stash
We want you to uncover your old stash, we all have papers and embellishments that must be years old, now is the time to use some up! The older the papers and embellishments the better!

Does anyone remember the manufactorer DaisyD? The paper collection used on this layout is one of my favs ever - and luckily I still have plenty :-) I hoarded it when it still was in the shops, like 5-6 years ago. I also have dug out old brads, rubons, stickers and fiber. I belive the only stuff newer than 4 years is the large alpha.
Ahhh, it feels great to have used all these old items!

Patterned papers: DaisyD. Tags: K&Company. Rubons: MME, Basic Grey. Brads: MME, Pink Paislee, LYB, AC. Arrow stickers: Heidi Swapp. Alpha: AC
 Close ups:

I'm sure you have some old stuff around, too! Why not grab it and play with us at The Studio Challenges?

50 is just a number

I'm so happy to guest design at CSI in March - the cases to be solved are always kick starting my mojo!

Here is this week's case:

And here is how I solved it:

Patterned papers: Basic Grey (blue), MME (others). Flowers: Prima (large peach colored), unknown (blue).
Journaling card: Jillibean Soup. Alpha: AC,. Lace: Harmonie. Eyelets: unknown

Journaling says: "In a short month I'm actually 50. I Wonder how you really should feel when you hit that milestone? There is so much that hasn't been done yet, especially when it comes to exploring the rest of the world, but luckily it's plenty more time left. May be the 70s are the New 50?"

How I solved the case:
*colors: all used
*Evidence: Stripes & dots, long title, lace, eyelets, stitching
*Testimony: Jornaling directly on the page

Feel like playing with us? You have until March 26th :-)

The Studio Challenges January 18th challenge: Clear up!

Today's challenge at The Studio Challenges is a simple challenge:

As its the new year we want you to do a bit of clearing up! Whats sat on your desk? Are there photos, papers or bits and pieces that have been sat there for ages waiting to be scrapped but you never seem to get around to using them? Now is your chance to use them and clear your desk!

Here is my take on the challenge:

Background paper: AC/Amy Tangerine. Others: October Afternoon (blue), Echo Park (grey), MME (brown). Cardstock: Bazill, ClubScrap. Clear frame: Freckled Fawn. Cut files (bricks & alpha): Silhouette Studio. Long Brads: AC

I have had this photo of my oldest son (15) on my desk since July (!). It's taken on a boat trip/mini cruise, when he and his brother fought & were bored almost all the time (the is a story about WHY, but I'll leave that for another time). They finally desiced they could buy themselves a set of lego each to kill time and keep peace - luckily you're never too old for lego :-)

Details:

The "lego bricks"are my own designs, cut with the Silhouette Cameo, but you could easily make them by using an ordinary paper trimmer and a hole punch.

Are you ready for some clearing up?
Grab your papers and photos and head over to The Studio Challenges blog for more inspiration and to play along!

I figured a depressive photo and theme needed depressive colors *lol*

Need inpiration to scrap Christmas photos, but not a fan of traditional colors? Please head over to The Studio Challenges blog to see the DT's take on the challenge, and to play with us. You have until Jnauary 4th (2015) to play along!

Rock Lobster lunch

When DS12 and I was in Crete this summer, we had a great lunch at a sea food restaurant in Rethymnon. They had rock lobster on the menu, and as none uf us had eaten it before, we decided to dig in. Oh my, so yummie!

DS12 studying his plate before we start eating:

Background paper: Authentic. Other papers: Bo Bunny. Cut outs: & alpha: AC. Brads: MME. Epoxy stickers/words: Heidi Swapp.

The design is taken from this great sketch at Scrap Africa (sketch challenge 38):

I wanted to recreate that summer feeling from our holidays and spent the rest of my scraps from Bo Bunny's Lemonade Stand collection. I just love the bright happy colors!

Thank you for popping by - you know it means a lot to me!

Crowded. Not

This is a beach outside Civitavecchia, Italy, on a sunny Saturday mid September. Not very crowded *lol* It might have to do with the fact that it was rather windy, and quite early in the day.

Patterned papers: Bo Bunny. Enamel dots: MME. Umbrella brads: Eyelet Outlet. Cutouts & alpha: AC. Washi: unknown

We were on a cruise and the ship had a stop in the said town/harbour. We didn't want to spend the day on the bus to and back from Rome - we can go there anytime, it's just a few hours flight from where I live - so we decided to go to a beach instead.

Close ups:

Overlays are so fun to work with but so hard to photo without getting reflections. Grrr

The cutest ubrella brads ever?

The design is inspired by this fun sketch at My Creative Sketches:

All materials are from the September Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook, except the umbrella brads, alpha, washi and enamel dots - a perfect match for my photo and thme.

Thank you for stopping by - have a lovely week!

Smile and say cheese - large photo challenge at The Studio Challenges

Today, at The Studio Challenges, we want you to create a layout that focuses on the photo:

Please use a photo that is bigger than standard 4" x 6" size on your layout. How big can you go?!

Thes guys below are my two sons during a session with two professional photographers at a cruise earlier this fall. When I picked this photo as one of my favs, the photographers though I was crazy - was this something to keep? I knew it would be perfect for telling the story about the session and I love how this layout came out.

Papers: Echo Park (with cameras), October Afternoon (with caption). Vellum: Studio Calico. Brads: MME (Black), Eyeletoutlet (camera). Washi unknown. Hemp: my grocery store

Details:

I do apologize for the slighty angled image - I need to practise on taking good shots of my layouts :-)

Fish Spa (The Studio Challenges September Lift Challenge)

Good morning!  Our challenge today at The Studio Challenges is definitely a fun one.  We want you scraplift a member of our design team.  On our blog you can see how it turned out when all the design team ladies picked another designer to scraplift for this challenge.   Here is my inspiration layouts and my scraplifted version:

I love the design on Leslie's layout for the August 17th Mood Board Challenge:

I chose to keep two main elements: the large title, which I substituted with my journaling, and the photo framed by a large layer cluster, I kept pretty close with some of the embellies, too - the camera, the title on the left hand on the photo etc etc. My layout is featuring my DS11, having a fish spa in Crete this summer:
Background paper: Kaiser Craft. Other Patterned papers: MME, Tags; Chic Tags. Alpha: American Craft. Flair, washi & arrow: Freckled Fawn. Resin fish, camera, fabric "flowers & buttions: unknown.
Here are a few close ups for you:

Now please head over to the The Studio Challenges blog to see the rest of the DT member's lifts and to play along!
