I was in Lisbon, Portugal,  with some coworkers in June. I just loved the food and wine and the beautiful old city! The weather was just perfect so we did a lot of sightseeing - and walking in the sun meant getting thirsty. When asked - who wanted a cold beer?

Twisted

Inspiration for designs and details on layouts can be found lots of places. One of my fav places is Paper Issues (PI) which not only is a store, but also have a creative design team which whip up monthly fun challenges on PI's FB-page. One of them is "Pawsitively Pets" and the september twist was to use, on your page "something new to you, and something you have hoarded".

I often mix manufactores and it works out just fine!

I had, new to me, a package of photo frames and paper pieces (to be used on pocked pages) and desided it was time to dig into them. I am a button hoarder - I love buttons, and the wood cats are hoarded, too. Time to let them go!

He is a fashionist and plans his outfits very carefully. But then his dad cought him dressed like this on their annual "Dads-and-kids-camping-on-a-nearby-island" trip: pyjamas trousers, crocks - and his mother's rain jacket. Scrap worthy!

I found the inpiration for this layout in the Scrap Around The World's August mood board:

The theme, Fashion, was perfect for my photo, and I let the long title be one of the main elements in my design.

DYI Softgun Masks Dudes (CSI special file 365-5)

The CSI DT is excited to reveal our fifth special Case File created for our collaboration with Scrap365,UK's biggest and best scrapbooking magazine. 

This special Case File will be open for investigation for the entire month of April. We will have a new Scrap365 Case File every other month, with the publication of a new issue of the magazine. After this Case File closes, we will be selecting our five favorite layouts to feature, and those people will be invited as CSI Deputies (guest designers) for June.

I hardly ever paint on my pages, but on this one I went far out of my comfort zone :-)

Here is my take on it:

Osterøy is an island on the west coast of Norway and the journaling says: "In older days, they had to use what was found in nature: rocks for the walls and juniper for the coverings"

The Studio Challenges: No photo!

Todat\y we have this no photo challenge for you at The Studio Challenges:

Create a layout with no photo!

 There are some special moments that you didn't manage to get photos of that still need recording so now is you chance to document it! Or maybe there's just something that doesn't need photos but you need to get down on paper. (You can use a ticket or something from the event though, as long as its not a photo!)

I don't do December Daily or project life or anything that comits me to following up by a daily bases - I have enough self insight to know I never can fulfill such projects *lol*
But on occations I document a week from Monday to Sunday, just to challenge myself. Usually it goes some photos with it, but this time time I took no photos, just wrote:

When I started documenting this week in January, it was supposed to be another "boring" week, containing the usual everyday life happenings. But it didn't turn out that way: my mum had a bad accident (she fell off the garage roof while shuffling snow and smashed her ankel), we have had some issues with Social Security which finally was solved, my FIL needed to see a lawyer after a car accident two years ago etc etc That's what all the journaling is about.

The Artist - CSI case File #108

And here is my take on it, featuring a clay head DS14 made a few years ago. We has it diplayed in our living room, but with kids, cats and dogs running around, I will not be surprised if it gets ruined some day. If the any discussions are up about what the clay head looked like, we here have the evidence.

Hello snow (Chic Tags sketch challenge)

We still haven't much snow in my part of Norway, which means we have to seek it if we want to go skiing.
Last weekend hubby and youngest kid went up with a friend to his cabin in the mountains, and there surely was snow there!

Will you believe me when I say this is NOT a black/white photo? If you study it carefulle you will discover that the sticks are brown and the lamp post with some blue in it :-)

Cut out snowflakes are made from a chic tags packaging

The banner pieces are made from a journaling card, cut in three.

I usually scrap with 3*4" photos, but it was perfect to use a huge one to ephasize the beauty of all the snow. I got the idea for this layout from this sketch at the Chic Tags' blog:

The truth about mono skiing

..a way to look cool when you have fallen and can't get up without releasing (at least) one ski.

Details:

Working with coordinating lines is always easier than pulling out bits and pieces, I admit that. I had decided to go with papers from Pretty Little Studio's Monieur line, and to my big surprice it coordinated perfectly with a sheet of patterned chipboards from Simple Stories. I love when that happens!





I got the idea for this layout when I saw this sketch at the Pretty Little Studio blog:

I love how using the large tags worked out!

This is the very last layout I'll make as a DT member at OUAS, at least for a while. Originally the DT term was for one year, but due to Nadia having a baby etc, the term became half a year longer. It has been a lovely journey to be a part of, but now it's time to close that door and open new ones :-)

Mountain Flora

You may have noticed that Memory Maze provide you with chipboards in almost any size - from itty bitty micro ones, to large 12"*12". In my July post at the Memory Maze Blog I focus on how to use 6"*6" chipboards and how you can cut them apart to fit your project better.

In my part of the world (Norway) it's summer and the kids are in the middel of their long vacation. We, the adults, don't have as much time off as they do during this period, but we try to use the weekends too, for having some fun together. Four weeks ago I brought my family up in the mountains, and here it was still quite chilly and you could find spots of snow. But if you looked closely you would find tiny little flowers even here, and some of them are just adorable (this is what my journaling says, too).

I have cut both a large Doily Chipboard and a Vintage Mirror Chipboard into two. I placed the doily pieces on top and bottom of my page and tucked the Mirror pieces behind my photo and other embellies. To find the chipboard's product description, please visit the Memory Maze Blog Post.

Road Trip 2013 - CSI Case File #83

My dad lives on the other side of the country, a ten hour drive from our house, so we don't see him too often. We decided to pay him a visit this summer, but also to take advantage of beeing on the road and visit a few more Places on the way.

My kids are good in the car, but find long travels boring, so they stayed up long the night before we took off, so they could sleep in the car and make the trip more easy. The photo in the layout below is taken about 1/2 hour after we left the house *lol*

This layout is my take on this week's Case File at CSI, #83. This month's theme is travelling and the perfect inspiration to scrap the photos from our road trip.
