Back in the saddle

Fifteen year ago I left equestrian when I got pregnant with my oldest son - the huge belly was too much to carry when riding. Then we moved, got a new child, built a new house, changed jobs et etc - and I never got back on track again. Until this late fall.

Background paper: Kaiserkraft. Other papers: ClubScrap (green), October Afternoon (blue). Selfie-frame: Pebbles. Brad w/cutout: MME. Other cut outs: October Afternoon. Silver ruons: Pink Paislee. Alpha: AC. "Keep the wild..." sticker: Bella Blvd. Kraft envelopes w/chevrons: unknown

Journaling says:
"After a fiften year long brake, I found myself back in the saddle again. I knew I would be rusty, but could never imagine I would be so frightened - frightened to fall of and hurt myself again. But With Lille-Klompen (the horse's name) everything is safe and nice and fun!"

The saying on this sticker was perfect for this layout :-)

Fuzzy handcutting from an old October Afternoon collection:

Doing a page about myself back in the saddle first came to my mind when I saw the March mood board at Scrap Around The World:

I picked up elements like the horse (obvious?), the natural colors and the teal, and then the chevrons.

I have wanted to do this layout for a while, but I finally got my but in gear when I played at the Paper Issues Online Crop this weekend. One of the challenges goes like this:
Kelly's Design Team Challenge

I am challenging YOU to scrap yourself. This must be a new, never before seen project (Layout or Project Life Spread only). You can use any product you like and make it any size you like. I want to see your face on the layout and hear something about you. (Even if it's just in the comments)

----------------------------

Both challenges are still open - feel like playing with any of them? Or maybe both?

Life is a balance....

Do you have photos laying around you want to scrap, or stories you want to tell, and you have no ideas to start? I have had this photo from FIL's funural in August on my desk forever, and I knew what I wanted to say, but I never knew how to scrap it. Then this mood board from Scrap Around The World (SATW) gave me the inspiration I needed:

My FIL was very sick the last months before he died, and it was hard to see him just fade away. For the last weeks we debated almost every day: how long to hold on, and to what, and when to let go?

My FIL was very important to us and the images in the mood board pefect for my theme: he hold the keys to our hearts, the clock was ticking, and there was lots and lots of flowers in the funural. I let the saying in the board be the title of my layout, and as it was the essense of what I tried to express, I framed it and let it be th focal point.

Papers: Websters Pages. Frame:Memory Maze. Flowers: Prima. Cut files: Silhouette studio. Trim, key & pearls: unknown

Thank you SATW for the inspiration to scrap this photo and memory!
