New goggles, much needed (CSI file #159)

This is my last layout as guest designer ("Special Investigator") at CSI in March, and here is the case to crack:

If you know me, you may have noticed I hardly ever use ink or paint or anything wet or messy, just because I don't have the patience for it. But this time I just kept adding like I was payed for it, and I loved how it turned out :-)

Patterned papers: unknown. Grid stamp: Kaiserkraft. Stensils: Thecraftersworkshop (grid), The Paper Bakery (hearts/circles). Rubons: Hambleys. Wood accents: Freckled Fawn. Epoxy heart; Heidi Swapp. Dymo: Dymo. Jewels & brad: unknown

How I solved the case:
*all colors used
*Evidence: Doodling, jewles, feathers, mixed media, grid pattern, rubons, love accents (the hearts)
*Testimony: Document things you love about you

Journaling says: " I love how I still challenge myself and go out of my comfort zone: I still ski and I have picked up equisterian again"

The European Scrap Battle Part 1 - my take on the layout challenge

There is an European Scrap Battle going on, as warm up for the Stockholm Scrap And Pearl Event, taking place in April 2014. And I just couldn't resist the challenge (you find the complete rules here).

Here is the Round One challenge:

Please create a work with the colors and style from our blog for our event Stockholm Scrap and Pearl Event 2014. Please note that we want both colors and style taken from the blog!
Colors and style, please visit: http://stockholmscrapandpearl.wordpress.com/

Here is my take on it:

Patterned papers: Lemon Owl, Glitz Design, Elle's Studio. Cut outs/stickers: Echo Park, Lemon Owl. Alpha: Basic Grey

Title: Messy!
Journaling: "Having the room neat and tidy is not important to teenage boys. The mountain cabin june 2013"

Details:

Stamp: Kaiserkraft. Mask: Theraftesworkshop. Modelling paste: Panduro

The voting is over, and the result will be broadcasted tomorrow morning - wish me good luck!

I participate in the card challenge, too - I'll show you my card for round one next week - this blog will be busy for the next days giving you fun layout challenges to play with :-)

Sick

A few weeks back the kids had a week long winter break - and the youngest kid was sick all week long - it looked as it was some kind of the flue.  The winter break came to an end, and then the oldest kid was sick with the same bug.

This oldest child of mine is for sure going the be a Real Man.  While my youngest son just cought an ordinary flue, the oldest one cought the Man Flue.... I say no more...

Here he is, the victim of The Worse Bug Who Have Ever Hit A Teenager

Memory Maze produucts used: Get Well phrases,

This layout is DT work for Memory Maze. I made a post at the company blog last week where I showed how to use card sized chipboard phrases on different kind of projects, and this layout is one of those projects. On this layout I have chosen to repeat the phrase Get Well to make my wish more powerful. I used the super cute boarder hook chipboard as a base for my "sign" and used two swirl corners to frame the photo.

White CS: Bazill. Twine: The Twinery. Paint: parma
Chipboard: Memory Maze. The rest: SC March card kit

All the chipboards are painted dark brown with acrylic paint to get a uniform look, and as the rest of my chipboards they have a glossy finish. To balance the design in this layout, I have used the same paint over a mask here and there.

Mask: Crafter's workshop

Tell me, how do the men in your life do when they are sick?

I'll never be a mixed media artist :-(

Do you have materials, or tecniques, you struggle with?

Using mist and masks seems impossible to get a good grip on for me. My papers get all bulky, and I struggle with the design on my papers and cards when I I don't have paper to shuffle around. Why? Do I THINK too much, or try too hard? It's interesting that I have problems with this media, as ink pads, water colors and modelling paste works great for me...

Anyway - I have been playing, and here is the result:

Paper: 7Gypsies. Mask: The Crafters Workshop. Mist: Dylusions. Modelling Past: Panduro
Brown ink: Ranger. Pens: Signo. Chipboard: Imaginarium Designs. Washi & metal: Unknown

My mist is Chocolate brown, but for some reason it turned out more pinkish on my background paper, even if this was in brown shades. So annoying!

Paper: 7Gypsies. Mask: The Crafters Workshop + Clubscrap. Mist: Dylusions. Modelling Past: Panduro. Pens: Signo. Chipboard (used as mask): Imaginarium Designs. Button: Purple Pumpkin. Washi & ribbon: Unknown
