London calling! (CSI #78)

Hello!

This Easter I took my family to visit and explore London, UK. And of course I had to take a photo of them in the so London'ish red phone boxes.

Journaling:" And when you are in London, you do have to have a photo of you in one of the red phone boxes - the true documention of you really having been there"

When I grew up we had phone boxes, too. Not as pretty as the Lonon ones, but still. I think this was the first time my kids even saw a phone box (please have in mind, I live on the country side)... I feel like a dinosaur...

Some close up photos:

Patterned paper: MME (green stripes), unknown (bakground).Cut outs/stickers:

This layout is made with inspiration from CSI file case #78. As this blog post is a scheduled one, I'm hiking in the beautiful Norwegian Mountains when the challenge goes live. I don't have the direct link to the Challenge, but you find it here.

How I solved the case:
-All colors used
-Evidence: travel accents, stickers, stitching
Testimony: Document a trip

Tell me, are there things you see that makes YOU feel like a dinosaur?

Sweet dreams.

In my DT post at the Memory Maze blog in June, I talk about where to find inspiration to tell the real stories, and one place is in words/titles. Often the title is thought of late in the creative process while scrapping, but the title can be the perfect starting point, too. In this blog post I will show you  my second of three examples

When I see the title Sweet dreams I think of cute, innocent babies. I don’t have cute, innocent babies anymore. I have one snoring, farting teenager and one snoring, farting teenager wannabe. But I have cats. And cats have a completely different view than me on the concept of Comfy Sleeping. So the title Sweet Dreams give this layout the perfect touch of irony, showing my youngest cat using a measuring tape as a pillow.

Chipboard: Memory Maze. Papers: Lemon Owl. Flair: Cre8tive Cre8tions. Twine: The Twinery. Pen: Zig. Ink: Ranger

I'll be back next week with a third example on how to use tiltles as a starting point, but if you want it right now, you find it in my post at the Memory Maze blog.

Magic - CSI Case file #77

Journaling, hidden in glassine bag/envelope says (translated from Norwegian): "There is something magical about spring: all the nauture's wonders are revealed. As an example: How do the plants know when to bloom?"

Patterned papers: Studio Calico (background), MME (greens). Heart stencil: The Paper Bakery. Paper Clip: AC. Alpha: Webster's Pages. Ribbon, glassine bag, doilies & punches: uunknown

This layout is my example for the CSI Case File #77:

Isn't it wonderful?

Here is how I solved the case:

All five colors used.
Evidence: woodgrain pattern, envelope, something transperent (glassine bag/envelope)
Testimony: Put you journaling in an envelope (I put mine in a bag), inspirational words: Magic, nature, mystery

Please head over to the CSI site to see the rest of the DT's lovely examples, and how to learn more on how to play along :-)

Mother and Sons

In my DT post at the Memory Maze blog in June, I talk about where to find inspiration to tell the real stories, and one place is in words/titles. Often the title is thought of late in the creative process while scrapping, but the title can be the perfect starting point, too. Here is my first example:

Patterned paper: Basic Grey. Chipboards: Memory Maze. Bling: Prima. Flair: Scrapbutton. Pen: Zig. Ink: Ranger

I was sent these chipboard words: Mother And Sons. Actually I have never scrapped about that theme and it was about time to do it. I browsed through my photos to find a photo of myself and the kids, and found a not so perfect one taken in London, UK, this Easter. But it was perfect for my theme. The journaling tells how fun it is to have kids old enough to enjoy exploring city life, too. If I hadn’t had this title in mind when I designed the page, the layout would probably have had the title Tourists and the journaling would probably be about our stay in London. Quite boring and obvious.

I'll be back next week with a new example on how to use tiltles as a starting point, but if you want it right now, you find it in my post at the Memory Maze blog.

Card time!

It has been a while since I have made cards - I had stocked up, and there was no need to make any.  Until Saturday. I then discovered I was out of boy's cards while preparing DS10's going to a double birthday party the day after.

Did I panic? No *lol*. I had a brand New card kit in my hands (Studio Calico) and I found this cool sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch:

And here are my two cards, created in no time with help from the sketch :

Tell me, what do you do if you need a card? DIY or run out to buy one?

The Studio Challenges "Scrap Lift Blog Hop"

Hi and welcome to the The Studio Challenges (TSC) Scrap Lift Blog Hop. If you are following the lift chain you should you have come here from Daphne's blog - if not it's a good advice to start from the very beginning at the The Studio Challenges blog, and follow the entire lift.

So what is this Scrap Lift Blog Hop all about? Let me explain:
The second June challenge at TCS is Scraplifting. The DT wanted to do a scrap lift chain to give you examples on how to scraplift, and we thought it would be a fun idea to reveal the chain as a blog hop. Below the images you will find a complete list of the blogs containing the examples.

Here is the layout Daphne sent me to scraplift

And here is my take on it. I went for the general design, and took it from there.

Patterned papers: Lily Bee, AC. Die Cut s: Crate Papers. Chipboard stars: Studio Calico. Glitter stars: Freckled Fawn.
Alphas: AC, Cosmo Cricket. Flair: The Paper Bakery. "Good" badge: unknown

When my layout was done, I sent an image of it to Katherine for her to lift it - please head over to her blog to see what she did.

If you want to play with us, we would love you to lift any of the layouts along the way. Please link up your creations at the side bar of the TSC blog for a chance to win a great prize from this month's sponsor, the chipboard company Tando. You have until  June 30th to finish :-)

Food from my garden - CSI file #75

Summer doesn't seem to take off here in my part of Norway - we have plenty of sun, but the air is still quite cold - and I'm dying to get more vegatables out from my greenhouse and out in the veggie garden.
Do you have a greenhouse or veggie garden?

If you have known me for a while you know I am a garden junkie. I love everythings that grows or blooms and I have a soft spot for anything edible there: fruit, berries, herbs and vegatables. The first I pick is rhubarb and hives - and even my kids ask for rhubarb soup as soon as it's getting green here.

Patterned papers: Glitz designs, Studio Calico, Cosmo Cricket. Butterflies: Studio Calico. Acrylic buttons: Ephiphany Crafts. Twine: Pink Paisley. Cutlery, flower: unknown.

Journaling: I admit it: any meal taste better when made with ingrediences from my own garden

Isn't this cutlery the cutest?

This layout is made with inspiration from CSI Case File #75:

How I solved the case:
  • Colors: all five used
  • Evidence: Flowers, wood, banner title
  • Testimony: from "Pop the question": What is your favourite meal to prepare?
Thank you for stopping by - you know your visit means a lot to me :-)

The Studio Challenges June Challenge #1: Stitching!

I admit it  - I don't pull out my sewing machine or hand stitch on my layouts too often. But I love the effect stitching gives so I had decided to have my machine up on permanent bases, to see if it makes me use it more often.

The first challenge at The Studio Challenges in June is all about stitching: use stitching on your layout, hand stitching or by machine. Here is my example for you:

Alpha & background paper: Basic Grey. Patterned Paper: AC Embossed kraft paper: Club Stamp. Chipboards: Maya Road. Brad: MME. Cut outs: Crate Paper. Glassine bag & buttons: Unknown

A few detail shots:

Hidden journaling in glassine bags says: It's a matter of learning the kids that stuff can be fixed - you don't always have to buy new when broken.

Do you stitck on your projects?

Do you want to come and play with us at The Studio Challenges?

My Guilty Pleasure - OUAS June challenge

The start of a new month means a new challenge and sketch at Once Upon A Sketch (OUAS):

June Theme: What's your guilty pleasure?

Oh yes! We all get some sort of pleasure from something we really shouldn't. What's yours?
Ideas for journalling: scrapping, time alone, food, going to a concert, a T.V show, time in the garden, playing , Facebook, your iphone, shopping, bags, shoes, computer time, designing, creating etc etc

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below.
Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is .You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

And here is my guilty pleasure:

Patterned Papers: Studio Calico (Blue), Søstrene Grene (With berries). Washi: Teresa Collins. Fabric page runners: Charms Creations. Alpha: Basic Grey. Tabs and bottle caps: authenitic :-)
